So far, only thing that can ruin my ski day are illness and injuries (including family member).
All other things can be dealt with and skiing continues.
Granted, bad condition or lifts not running can prevent that too. But those are “environmental” issues outside of our control.

Or the condition too treacherous for one’s own ability and/or safety tolerance.
But we don’t typically think of those as “ruin” our ski day. Just unpleasant enough to not bother, or choose not to push on.

No injuries I'm afraid, more a personal one, and not just the entire day.
Finding out on the first morning that your friend, who you haven't seen for years, and is returning to skiing after a sizeable break from the sport, suddenly expects you to be their free guide, instructor, mentor, map reader, interpreter, etc, entertain them at lunch/apres/evening meals/etc, and constantly criticises your choice of kit, resorts, ski runs, menu choices, etc.
So that'll be a solo trip in Lech booked for 2025 then.

...Or wife suffering a tibial plateau break in Japan. Rescue/evacuation to hospital taking 5hrs and the language barrier turned it into even more of a nightmare. I reported on it on here at the time (Feb '23).
Update: After two operations, and ongoing physio and rehab, we finally have light at the end of a long and dark tunnel  After seven or eight months of her knee not bending properly (hence the second op in Dec. 2023), Mrs MA was recently signed off by her specialist; is up to 1000ft climbing on a mountain bike; and has been advised that skiing is a goer once leg/knee muscles that haven't been used for over a year are strengthened.

Good news MA 
On a much less serious note I was going to say having an Appendicitis and then surgery two weeks before my only ski trip this year.
Headed out with my walking gear accepting that I wouldn’t be able to ski. By chance met an old friend at the airport that I hadn’t seen for 15 years. Happens to be a consultant and Professor of Gastroenterology. He rang a surgeon friend who advised that if my gut didn’t hurt and I was sensible, I would be able to ski! Result and Thankyou!

You have my sympathy. 
But you left out equipment consultant! What length/width of skis, boot fitting, goggle or glasses, gloves or mitten… 
(Or worse, on slope ski handyman to make emergency repair on outdated gear that falls apart the moment they touch snow! Been there, done that. Once was enough)
When I returned to ski after a decade off, I KNEW I needed some help to get back into it. I booked a local instructor to take care of both updating my equipment and my technique to effectively use those equipments. Though to be fair, by that point of my life, I was entirely disconnect from skiing so no longer know of anyone else who skis. So I couldn’t possibly burden myself to any of my long lost friends.
But I was the victim of one of my date who showed up with outdated equipment that constantly fall apart at various points. It tested my emergency repair skill and equipment stash (I tour back then so carried some such emergency supplies, but it was more specific to my own equipment rather than general repair)

I don't so much mind being the routefinder/map reader for certain smaller groups, but only for friends/people I want to ski with. Also if I'm being left to do more organising/directing then I'll probably take some liberties or expect something in return...especially when it comes to ordering

EoSB 2017, Early in the week I received a call from the NH knee specialist in the UK after he'd seen my MRI scans to tell me that I really shouldn't be skiing with the damage done to my knees. What really ruined my week was continuing to ski anyway (the guiding was so good!), Thursday afternoon I could only really load bear on the right leg so one leg skied home, and come Friday I couldn't get my boots on at all as my whole lower legs had swollen up too much.

I think I'm missing out here....
Things have gone wrong of course, such as breaking my wifes leg on the evening before we set off for Austria*.
But I count these as challanges and we always end up enjoying the holiday in the end.
* Saw off some friends who were moving to take over a pub in Alderney, so too much alchohol had to get demolished.
Then realised it was a school day tomorrow and had to get the baby sitter home.
Almighty drunken rush back to get the baby sitter home, ended up crushing my dear wifes knee up against the garage door by engaging 1st rather than reverse.
The skis and sledge were still on the roof of the car when I took her into A&E at 5am.
Just a two day delay setting off while we waited to see the consultant who said that as it was Austria, she may as well go.
I can't remember any ill effects about the trip though.
We are still married, but she tries her best to avoid ski holidays with me.

Rupturing my Achilles just before ski holiday taking my two kids. Had to travel out on crutches so they didn't miss out on their holiday. At least the apartment got cleaned!
