Hello all. Normally take a very quick early lunch to get more piste time. Any cheap and cheerful and fast lunch spots in VT. Or even picnic area? First time to 3V so looking forward to it. Thank you very much.

Great food- croques, quiches etc. plus all the usual desserts, and freshly squeezed orange juice. You barely have to remove your skis. We eat there most days when skiing 3v from Les menuires.

@dynastar84, Les Chalets du Thorens is a good bet if you want something cheap and cheerful on the mountain. It has a load of food options from different specialist vendors - burgers, sandwiches, waffle stand, noodle bar, self-serve restaurant. It's a big food maze! But it's good if you're in a rush, have people who want different food, and aren't particularly worried about top quality.

1. Heated picnic room underneath Cairn gondola station (bottom terminal) in VT. Also has a cheap coffee machine (coins only).
2. Heated picnic room at the bottom station of Rosael chair at Orelle.
3. Heated picnic room at the bottom station of La Masse gondola at Orelle (with microwaves, sinks and phone charging lockers).
4. Shed picnic room, with 1 open side, at top of Moutieres chair at VT. Nice on a warm day.
5. Heated picnic room under Pas du Lac gondola bottom station at Mottaret, with microwaves, sinks and phone charging points.
6. Heated picnic room, with microwaves and sinks, at Saulire Express bottom station at Meribel.
7. Heated picnic room at top station of Ariondaz gondola at Courchevel 1650, with microwaves and sinks.
8. Heated picnic room at the top station of Verdons gondola, at Courchevel 1850, with microwaves and sinks.
All have toilets except 4.
Guess who loves a packed lunch?

Previously would've said Wok Ski at Chalet Du Thorens (downstairs), but I think they may have shut down last season. Worth a check to see if anyone else took over, not mega cheap but good sustinence for the money and always did a Snowhead discount during the EoSB.
@Bergmeister, impressive, didn't even know the one at Rosael existed, in fact can't even picture where it is.

@SnoodyMcFlude, Wok Ski was operating last year, presumably under new ownership. My experience of it in January was slow service and disappointing food.

@sugarmoma666, pretty sure they were still open with the usual crew at the EoSB but finished after that....but at this stage many eosbs have merged into each other.

It's in a hidden spot, behind the restaurant, and is accessible only from the blue run. It's a small stone building, with a "Salle Hors Sac" sign above the door. It's easy to miss...

@Bergmeister, We're going at Easter - not been since late 90's!! This is brilliant and I'll make sure I mark them out on the piste map. Just scratching my head as to what we can take with us to cook in a microwave that's not a faff to carry.....do you know if there are also water points in the microwave rooms?

I know that the picnic rooms in Meribel, Mottaret, Courchevel 1650 and 1850 also have hot drink and snack vending machines. Not sure about Orelle. The VT drink vending machine is €1, whereas the others are €1.50. Most take cards. Be warned that I have known the machines in 1650 and 1850 to only dispense hot water, rather than hot chocolate, which has been infuriating! There is also a hot drinks vending machine next to the ESF desk in Courchevel 1850. If you get to Meribel Mottaret the Chez Biz, next to the supermarket, does good, take-away burgers for approx €12 https://www.meribel-chalets-apartments.com/chez-bif-meribel-mottaret.htm .

We (only occasionally) carry small tupperware boxes containing the night before's curry, chilli or spag bols leftovers - only about an "airline portion" but enough for a light lunch.
I've amended the above list to now show which picnic rooms have sinks/running water .

Thank you very much. Most helpful. Great list!! Can't beat a packed lunch when you really want to blast some miles. Will let you know how we get on. Going with some people that have been before so will be quite nice not to be referring to the piste map for the first 3 days constantly.

I'm sure Ski Wok, was still going last year. But its not as good as when the Kiwi Crew had it.

VT and 3V. Great place. Loved it. We got decent weather and I squeezed in a 0900-1300 blast on leaving day Saturday am. Which was the most amazing experience as by then you know your way around and the pistes were empty. (In 4 hours including a 25 minute break I did 16 lifts and runs) Had a few sweaty cheese sandwiches on the gondalas to maximize quiet piste time. The transfer is a biggy but overall worth it. Geneva a bit chaotic but worth it for the Saturday morning skiing. Thank you for all the hints and tips. One for the scrapbook.

@kettonskimum, picnic rooms (and outdoor picnic tables, which might be fine at Easter) are already marked on the piste map. In addition to those above there looks to be one at the foot of the Roc de Tougne chair

We are staying up at Les Balcons de Val Thorens, but happy to wander into the main bit of the resort.
Bonus for a map that shows restaurants and bars, rather than just accommodation please.

Bump - similar vein, are there any water refill points around VT? I usually get through quite a bit during EoSB and would prefer not to keep stopping to buy a drink, but also trying to ski lighter and not take a bag...are the places with sinks suitable for drinking?

Sucre sale is so good! The restaurant across the road La Petite Ferme is really reasonable too and does great takeaway pizzas. One place I will advise to avoid is steakhouse club 72, it was criminal how bad this place was for the cost.

IIRC there is an igloo just below the start of Moraine bubble / Portette chair. (But a website suggests that meal is €15, not €12)
