Poster: A snowHead

Taking place over 16 days, the FIS Games will represent the full range of snow sports talent from both Olympic and Non-Olympic sports – including, of course, para snow sports. From Alpine to Freestyle, Freeski and Snowboard and Nordic, from Telemark to Speed Skiing and Freeride, the world’s greatest athletes will showcase their talents in front of a global audience.
The FIS Games will take place on a 4 year cycle. The games will take place during years containing neither the Winter Olympics nor FIS World Championships in the major skiing disciplines. (the next Winter Olympics are in 2026 in Milan and Cortina).
It's good that the FIS Games will include the full range of snow sports, including Telemark and Speed skiing.

Hopefully not, given that the FIS press release talks about "the Games will lead the way on sustainability and inclusivity, projecting an inspiring message about the positive impact that major sporting events can have. To this end, the FIS Games shall take place at already existing facilities with sustainability and legacy at their core.". Perhaps you're thinking of the 2029 Asian Winter Games which are being held in Saudi, much to the surprise of the International Olympic Committee, which usually vets such things, and has been pushing to increase the sustainability of sports by reusing existing facilities.

Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

@under a new name, in my opinion, yes, especially as it will give exposure of snowsports that aren't covered in the Winter Olympics.

@Alastair Pink, surely these things are already covered, if one is sufficiently interested? Speed skiing, unless they raise the comedy obstacles stake (Death Race?), won't make great TV will it?

Glasgow is hosting the combined UCI World Cycling Championships this summer, bringing together 17 different cycling disciplines (who knew there were that many - cycle (foot)ball anyone?). It will be interesting to see how that works as a model. If longer term this new ‘event’ were to replace the existing World Championships then it might be a better bet than current fragmentation. There might be a limited range of locations that could accommodate all disciplines.

You can certainly watch Telemark WC events online, but it would be awesome for it to get a wider audience. The Parallel Sprint is a great watch even if you don't tele.

Why not just add the additional disciplines into the FIS World Championships they already control?
The Snowboarding world isn't crying out for more large format competitions, they have enough scheduling conflicts in the current schedule.
