Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Les Contamines 13-2-23 (am) Off-piste partners for the week?

Dear Snowheads,

I am in Les Contamines for Feb half-term with my family. Unfortunately my mountain guide with ESF has been in an accident and my morning off-piste group sessions have been cancelled - he is thankfully not too bad. If any Snowheads are in Les Contamines and fancy doing some morning off-piste (if the conditions are good) then please contact me. I have only skied there for three or so weeks and do not profess to know the off-piste very well at all. I have all of my own avalanche equipment and know how to use it, I have done loads of off-piste in the last 20 years or so. We could also consider hiring our own mountain guides from the bureau des guides.

@ashpollak, no I did not, it was not looking good off-piste anyway so I do not think I missed much. I was hoping for some powder and winter conditions like the previous year and we had a really excellent guide from ESF too. I might well be going next Feb half-term and hopefully the ESF Hors piste group will be running with no injuries to the guide. We go to the UCPA for the family week, it is good to stay in touch and we might well be around 11th Feb or so.
