Obviously A snowHead isn't a real person
Precipitation should pick up as we run into February, its normal winter behaviour. I expect we will get at at least two significant dumps in the coming weeks.
Meanwhile SNOW tomorrow

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

Definitely looks like some snow coming, whether it will be epic or a touch less... we'll see. Lots of off piste is currently chalky and grippy, good to ski on. Softer snow is also still out there.
Tuesday am: persistent, though very light, snow at moment. Visibility is rather poor.

yeah but the graph above only shows5-10cm (using the scale on the left) when is the BIG dump arriving.
And love to help out and answer questions and of course, read each other's snow reports.
stevev, (scales on the right & don't forget it's accumulative) - but if it does happen it will be quite a dump on top of what they've already had the last few days and next few days. For example, snowforecast.com is currently predicting round about 40 cms then: http://www.snow-forecast.com/resorts/Lech/6day/mid (of course, all to be taken not too literally....)
So if you're just off somewhere snowy come back and post a snow report of your own and we'll all love you very much
Cathy, I meant the scale on the right
so why does it only say 5-10cm when snow-forecast says lots more. I never see big numbers on the GFS plots. Is it just localised

You know it makes sense.

Because *NOBODY* can accurately predict how much snow will fall on a given mountain for a given period.

Otherwise you'll just go on seeing the one name:

Like cathy, says it accumulates. The high point of the graph is between 5 to 10 but the period of snowfall on the 12z graph covers well over 24 hours, almost 48 whilst it builds up to that peak. Hence why the larger amount of snow. Snow forecast.com is I believe derived from the GFS- the hauptlauf I think but unlike the GFS gives a very specific numeric prediction. The GFS gives you a bit more of a flavour and context. According to that GFS run and several before there is a reasonable likelihood of a fairly big snowfall on 03rd Feb. As kitenski says though predicting things much more accurately - in cm for example- might pass the time, but...

stevev, ignore snowforecast - they are fantasists

A few cm 30-50 cms in drifts , nothing special , just dandruff for the tourists .
Next month(week) serious snow will come

no, they are people who have a computer which applies formulae to computer model outputs...... and is as likely to under-predict snowfall, as over predict (indeed, before midnight we have already had more snow than they predicted for the entire night, and it's still chucking it down).
I don't know why people keep attributing these human attributes to a weather site whose key weakness is precisely that there are no actual people applying brainpower to the models' output. Given the extreme local nature of mountain weather it would be a mad business model to have actual meteorologists trying to produce forecasts for hundreds of ski resorts throughout the world. Then letting people have them for nothing.

This from the Lech.at site today... (and they've had another 20cm overnight)
Towards Sunday, the snow showers will abate, the weather will significantly improve. On Sunday, the clouds will increasingly be replaced by the sun. Despite that, the temperatures will remain absolutely wintry cold. The cold temperatures will probably intensify particularly on Sunday night, which will be mostly clear. In the course of Monday, new clouds will approach from north-west and cover the sun, on Monday night new snowfalls are expected, which may last longer on Tuesday and on Wednesday. So, larger amounts of new snow will probably approach earlier than expected.

Just back from a week in Lech - skied St.Anton/Stuben/Zurs/Lech - snowed constantly for the past 3 days so lots of powder and pistes in great shape.

Then you can post your own questions or snow reports...

erica2004, could you tell me, when staying in Lech and you buy an Arlberg pass, does that give you just one day in St A or as many as you like?

After all it is free
Arlberg pass gives you access across the whole Arlberg ie Lech - Oberlech - Zürs - St. Anton - St. Christoph - Stuben - Klösterle/Sonnenkopf.

"Several avalanches were recorded Saturday in the Tyrol. A four person ski touring group was hit by an avalanche on Rendl above St. Anton am Arlberg in the direction Moostall. In the region there was considerable avalanche danger (level 3) on the five-part scale. A 35-year-old Norwegian was buried, but was rescued and resuscitated. She arrived by helicopter to hospital Zams. Her condition was critical."
