Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Lofoten Islands 2024 - part 2 - back to reality

 Poster: A snowHead
Poster: A snowHead
After the epic shots from last week we are out for our first ever visit. Having watched the pics over the various years we decided we needed to visit!

Ski guiding by Simon https://offpisteskiing.com/

Last night the forecast was calling for heavy rain so we’d resigned ourself to a day off, however Simon sent a message to say there was a dry window in the morning so we quickly kitted up and headed out.

The precipitation was coming from behind us as we skinned up and we could see peaks in the distance disappearing under cloud. We donned our jackets about 30-45 mins from the top and managed to bag a summit!

Snow was a touch grabby at the top but got pretty skiable after the first pitch.

Day two was forecast to clear up by late morning, it didn’t and was raining fairly heavily. We eventually settled for a low couloir close to the lodge after lunch, started off in rain, a few flakes of snow at the top and lovely spring snow down.

Day three and there was chance of some sun so early breakfast and on the road at 8am. Got some decent snow with two skin ups, some bush wacking and an increasingly cold wind! Simon timed it perfectly with the rain starting as we got into the car!

Currently sleeting/snowing at the Lodge but tomorrow’s forecast isn’t looking great!

Day five and there was sun and blue sky!

Headed towards Varden, quite surprised by the quantity of fresh snow falling at the top! Completely unforecast! The top snow was really nice, once vis improved, lower down got heavy but still skiable albeit a bit rotten and slide a bit on steeper stuff. We debated going back up the bowl but there was still zero vis and snowing heavily so we headed back down for a good day out!
