Extremely easy. Down the escaltors and you’re there on the platform edge pretty much.

Well great to be back on ski. The walk to the railway was interesting and resulted in the first fall of the season on incredible slick ice. No damage done, a short ski from Eigergletcscher to Arven.
Coffee in Scheidegg bahnhoff then a terrific cruise through Brandegg to Grund.
Piste conditions could not be faulted, powdery/windswept at altitude simply superb lower down out of the wind.
I am feeling a burden to keep this thread active as TelfordMike and Val are no longer in Wengen.
I need to learn to post a few pictures.

@DixieDean,
Thanks for asking. After a wonderful 10 years living in Wengen (and childishly ignoring our UK responsibilities) we finally had to return to the UK this summer to do some 'grown-up stuff'. We'll be back next season, but for now I'm passing the baton to @Rogerdodger, @Jill t and everyone else on this splendid thread to keep things up to speed. Here's hoping for a great season in the Jungfrau Region.

Well good afternoon all. Snow, snow, snow a modest 13cms forecast....pleased to report we have had double that figure. Spent the morning up on Männlichen skiing the long run to Terminal.
Visibility was below par so forays into off -piste were cautious and measured. Consistently finding 25cm and in spots about 30.
Holidays have finished so the area is extremely quiet. Sitting at 700m writing this, the snow is falling remarkably heavily. Tomorrow is a morning on First so I will report on conditions.
Thanks to @telford_mike, for the formal endorsement......I will try to maintain the standard
and one day produce a photograph.

An interesting day, opted for First the stand alone sector above Grindelwald. The limited number of lifts discouraged huge numbers of people. We had magnificent powder which was tracked quickly by the young guns who knew what was up there . We managed to ski the itinerary down into Grindelwald, indicative of the volume of snow we had. Depth of new stuff around 40 - 45cm.
Extremely unstable but it doesn't deter the "you guns" skiing crazy lines.

Anyone have knowledge if they plan on opening up more terrain in the coming days? Was assuming a but more would be open after the recent snow but it looks like there is still a decent amount closed. Maybe waiting for conditions to stabilize a bit?

On a different note, we are traveling with a group of mostly brand-new skiers. If we are there for a week, what pistes would be considered the best ones/easiest ones to start on? And would it be realistic to shoot for some reds at some point during the week? We are all young, in good shape etc.

Depends where you are staying but if in Wengen it will go in this order for a beginner I would expect. Village beginners area - Gondola up to Mannlichen Beginners Button lift- Kleine scheidegg beginners area. Don't try to ski between Mannlichen and Kleine Scheidegg with them too soon. My friend who is doing the inferno sent me videos last night and the conditions do indeed look fantastic.

Long blues from KL, 22 to brandegg and fox run back to Wengen. Blue on mannlichen ok but traverses the red so can be a bit intimidating however this is a good progression option as you can pick and choose bits of the red to ski and they are nice and wide.
We used to do a triangle from KL > fallboden chair via fox run and then blue back to KL. either straight back in or onto 22 via Arven.
All convenient for coffee stops/lunch btw!

Extremely accurate advice there from@Glosterwolf, . If progress goes well it may be possible to ski from Kleine Scheidegg back around to Wengen. Yes this route follows the Lauberhorn race course. There is no need to take any of the steep bits and the run into Allmend is a forest road after that it is gentle back into Wengen. As beginners you would get a great sense of achievement if you skied this route later in your week.

Awesome, thank you all for all the advice! We are excited to get there and great to hear the conditions sound better than I thought.

I'd second the run down from Kleine Scheidegg down via Brandegg. A lovely gentle blue for just beyond beginners with a great pitstop at the Brandegg hut for a rest and some nice apple fritters! Also very scenic.

There's some nice stuff in Murren too, some blues might be a little intimidating for a brand new skier but I think blue 7 off the top of the Allmendhubel funicular would suit, fairly gentle through trees.
Blue 2 off the top of the Winteregg chair is a great blue too though from memory there might be a slightly steeper pitch on part of that run which beginners might find a little intimidating. There may be a bypass for that slightly steeper section, more local knowledge will probably be able to steer you right there

@cb97, You will love Mürren. Make sure you visit the Jungfrau Hotel terrace located right in front of the large nursery slope, super for some lunch, apres ski or just a great meeting point.
The piste on the Allmendhubel is a gentle blue with a button lift or you can ski straight onto the bob run blue tkaking you back to Mürren

Piste conditions are really fab@cb97, I have skied Mürren, Männlichen and Kleine Scheidegg in the last 2 days and all pistes are without fault.
Regarding your stay , Grindelwald has a lovely beginners area called Bodmi however use may be tied into lessons with an instructor. Up on the mountain it's possible that you could work on Oberjoch, the high point of the area (First) This would necessitate up and down travel in the gondola, I would advise against an attempt to ski below First unless accompanied by an instructor.
When do you arrive?

Thanks everyone for all of the information.
@Glosterwolf We don’t currently have any lessons set up, one member of our group has alot of experience so we figured we might just let him lead us and take it slow.
@Chris Brookes Yes we have been to Mürren a couple times before but never to ski. We absolutely love it.
@Rogerdodger We arrive Saturday Jan 24th, first day of skiing would be Sunday the 25th. We’re staying until Sunday Feb 1st.

@cb97, fair enough, having an advanced/expert level skier who knows and respects the limitations of the group can work, especially if young and fit. Apart from the Gloucester beginners ski pack my elder daughter has progressed surprisingly well with help from me and her younger sister who have had lessons and coaching. Take care and I hope you enjoy yourselves.

Pleased to be able to report an improving picture @cb97, skied on First today. The Schilt chair has been opened along with the Bäregg drag lift. All pistes in very good condition .
Possibly some new snow this week.
