Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

A wonderful Jungfrau Media Dinner experience at Kerridge's Bar & Grill in the Corinthia Hotel, London

Product Manager from Grindelwald and Marketing Manager from Jungfrau Railways

Nothing earth shattering, just a push to show the varied Winter Holiday to be had in the Jungfrau Ski Region

Definitely looking for the family market and the non-skiers

Biggest development for this Winter is the AlpsPass

Great value if you can make more than a couple of trips to Switzerland this season

@youngun85, .... "When you land in Zurich you’ll likely have time to go in the shop for some train beers"

How busy are the Zurich to Interlaken trains likely to be on a Saturday in the late afternoon? I was planning on spending a few hours in Zurich before heading up to Wengen. I took first class from Geneva last time, which was very much appreciated. Loads of space, no crowding. I haven’t booked first for this yet, and just wondering if I should bother. Travelling late January.

@inthecold, if you check the timetable for your journey in the SBB app it will give you an indication of how busy each train will be e.g. if 2nd class shows three red people icons then it's predicted to be busy.

@jonm, is that generally reliable before the day of travel? I booked the trip through Crystal who issue point-to-point tickets with a half-fare card. They charge £52 per person to upgrade to first. Do you think upgrading on the day would be more expensive?

@inthecold, in my limited experience it's pretty reliable. I assume they must use some sort of historical data, but I don't know.

Morning all - does anyone know whether the cable car / train from Lauterbrunnen to Murren or the train up to Wengen run late into the night? Planning a family weekend but I can’t see us getting to Lauterbrunnen much earlier than 11:30PM. Perhaps, we should stay in the valley and then head up each day. Thank you.

Hi all.... 8 weeks to my first trip to the Jungfrau area. I'm travelling alone and staying in Wengen at the Victoria Lauberhorn. Flying on the 5th (Mon) to 9th (Fri), and arriving by train from Zurich, so skiing 3 and a bit days.

I'd appreciate some hints & tips re mountain huts, bars, the best pistes/areas etc..... any useful info gratefully received with thanks!

3 and a bit days.....perfect for a whistle stop tour. @Gaz_H,
Day 1 up the cable car to Mannlichen then work across to Kleine Scheidegg. You will see all the preparation work for the Lauberhorn race which you may find very interesting.
Day 2 zip across to Mürren and experience the new "steepest cable car" in the world.
Day 3 up to Mannlichen and ski down to Terminal, this is the bottom station of 2 gondolas, the eigerexpress is the tourist lift for Jungfraujoch.
Use the bus from Terminal across Grindelwald to get to Firstbahn, this is the stand alone ski area of Grindelwald. Lovely small area usually quiet with some great scenery.
Final half day, select a bit to revisit and consider when you will return!

@Rogerdodger, thanks, appreciated!

A quick one re the train. I'm assuming the best option is to get the direct train from the Airport to Interlaken, rather than changing in Zurich? Would you recommend booking the train well in advance for a Monday afternoon?
Thanks

@Gaz_H, i hope you'll have clear skies as you approach Lauterbrunnen, the views are lovely.
Try to sit near a window on the left side, the lakes side. Very Happy
In Wengen, 2 food recommendations:
Save money in the early afternoon at the Eat&Go Halal on the rt side, main street.
Decent roasted chicken and burgers.
Spend money in the evening at the Bären, it's posh, tasty but expensive.
Plenty of good other options as well.
Good pastries at the Coop close to the train station

@Gaz_H, you should also stop at the Brandegg Hut when skiing down to Grindelwald from Kleine Scheidegg to sample the apple fritters Very Happy

You could have some light lunch loaded fries up at the Wall Bar at the Eiger Gletscher lift as well, good spot for lunch before a nice long descent.

Can anyone recommend an instructor(s) based in Grindlewald for a couple of 10 to 12 year olds who want to move beyond ski school type lessons. They are competent, ski a couple of weeks a year, but want to really solidify their technique at this stage and are looking for private/semi private tuition. Any help gratefully received

Excellent stuff. We’re heading over for a Friday-Monday birthday trip.

Friday - Zurich for Xmas markets

Sat-Mon train to wengen and 2 nights in the Lauberhorn.

We’re not taking skis with us so we’re just going to play it by ear, whether to walk/sledge or to ski.

@Gaz_H, anyone. You can buy a card that gives you half off all fares, but that typically doesn’t work for skiers who aren’t staying long or taking many trains.
