Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

What age to start boarding??

Old snowboarders adage - 'if they can walk, they can ride' - I have been boarding for 15 years and qualified as an instructor in Mammoth in 2001 and taught two kids aged 3!!!! If they want to do it, let them do it! My kids (5 & 7) ski and board reasonably well after 14 days on snow and a dozen hours on a dryslope - I 'll let them decide which way they turn! Of course if they turn to the dark side (skiing) - I'll have to write them out of my will! My first post btw - Merry Xmas to you all!!! Cool

Could anyone advise me as to what age you can learn to snowboard? When I enquired at our local dry slope they said he was too young as the boards/boots were too big for him. Is this is a general problem or just down to limited resources at the dry slope?

My rental boards start at 90 cm, easily big enough for a 10 year old and probably too small.

Well this morning Jnr Hammer said, "you know what I might not snowboard, I think I'll ski instead like you and Mummy". We shall see what he decides when we get his kit tomorrow!

Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

I asked this question a while ago as I had a 6 year old desperate to be like her big brothers. See this

She's now got her own board. Next holiday will be spent 2 weeks boarding and 2 weeks skiing (hopefully!).
