Poster: A snowHead
|
Evening,
I am staying in Kierans apartment in Feb...
Does anyone know if it's possible to ski down to BSM? (Snow provided of course) Or do you have to take the train?
Thanks,
Chris

Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

Hezza, apparently there is an unmarked itinerary, which involves skiing through people's gardens and across the road once or twice. Not done it myself, in fact wouldn't even know which route to follow if the snow was good enough, but it can be done. The snow needs to be pretty good though as BSM is at 850m.

during a season in meribel we managed to ski down to brides-les-bain which is at 600m. similarly, this was through gardens, across roads etc but was pretty good fun

THere is indeed a route down - an official piste as far as the "Granges" mid-station on the funicular, then from there it's unmarked stuff. If you ask over on MySnowSports, I know that PG who runs it has skiied down (he lives in BSM) and may be able to give you some pointers

Back in the day they used to race from the top of the Saulire to Brides Lesbians on 2m20 hickory skis.
