Get your head around TIED (see manual) and sharpen your skis.

@James the Last, I never did get my head around TIED.
I mean, when I look at the manual it's like, duh, of course, but it seems so obvious that I would never need an acronym for it.
Worse, for me, is the ambiguous terminology they use later on, probably not so much at L1, but I always got confused by Elements, Strands and Threads. Found myself having to brush up on their definitions for the exams then effectively forget them (the definitions, not the concepts contained therein) until the next one.

If you're a young, enthusiastic intermediate with an open mind, then you won't have any issues with the course.
Depending on your skiing style, you may find that your technique is stripped back to nothing and rebuilt. But.. it will be so worth it.
I did the L1 with no intention of instructing... and still loved it. It's been the foundation for all my progression in recent years.
Possibly worth reading - https://snowheads.com/ski-forum/viewtopic.php?t=164907

@MMMMDCCCX, i've gone through the Irish association so not exactly what you've signed up to, but pretty similar in most respects.
Going in with an open mind is key, the skiing standards expecting aren't overly high, but there might be things they want you to change, and you might not like what that feels or looks like, but it's important to show what they want/need to see.
When it comes to the teaching aspects, generally less is more. Don't over complicate things, you won't be teaching high end lessons, so remind yourself how the basics work, and if there's any demo lessons given by your examiner, try to replicate their style and structure.

Is the BASI manual digital now ? if so I'd be interested to take a look to see what's changed.

@AndAnotherThing.., It's available in PDF form, has been for many years. I'm sure you can find a free, if illegal, download, my very quick search came up with a library app that lets you read it online https://library.myebook.com/BASI/basi-alpine-manual/391/
I do have a copy (any BASI member can download it for free) if you really wanted it.

@AndAnotherThing.., Note though, that the answer to your question is quite possibly nothing. It's not been changed since 2011. The current official BASI download one is the same edition as the library version.

@Chaletbeauroc, my BASI app says it’s the 2017 alpine manual within it!!

@Chaletbeauroc, mine is the old paperback version. I did try and access the online portal but I imagine my old account has been deleted.
Funny thing is I did enquire about rejoining but they were not especially interested.

@kitenski, What is this app of which you speak?

OK, the BASI Study app is what you mean, I guess? Not come across it before, so just had a little play, couldn't see how to download the full manual, just the individual sections for each course/module, which don't include the first pages with the dates on.
I did randomly select a given page (by page number) and the content appears to be identical, just slightly reformatted, so it may be that it's accessing a different version rather than the original pdf I have a copy of.
Interestingly, I note that on the normal BASI website I am no longer able to download the manuals, presumably because I've not renewed my membership for several years, but I was able to do so as recently as last June, when I downloaded the Telemark, Snowboard and Alpine manuals. But I doubt that a different 2017 version would have replaced the 2013 reprint of the 2011 manual that was available last year.

Think about where you stand on your skis. Not in the position to go fast but how you can be positioned if it were slow motion.
Next, practice short turns.
Now practice a snow plough. It is amazing how many people are great at skiing fast but can’t do a speed controlled snow plough.
Now think. I’m here to teach a beginner so I need to demonstrate how they ski and how THEY can improve, not show how good you are.
