 Poster: A snowHead

Hello!
I’m looking for advice on some good Kinder Hotel options for February half term. Thinking Austria but open to suggestions! Kids will be 4, 8& 10.
Ideally somewhere with good facilities for kids, not too long a transfer and not too far from the slopes/ ski school. Any advice appreciated!

Try Felsenhoff just outside Flachau. Bus in the morning is every 20mins and stops at the hotel. I think it's more expensive than i remember and see if it dovetails with the Dutch half term, as it was popular with them when i went there 3 times (not in half term).
Hotel was excellent, food was good, pool, gym etc and a peaceful little village.

We have done a week with Ski Famille which was great but we like having some hotel facilities. We have also done a week in Club Med which was again great but huge and a little hectic. Both in France at Easter and both were ski in ski out.
As this year due to other timings we can only go Feb half term so we thought we might try something different like Italy or Austria - as both sound like they have some good family friendly options.

In January, I stayed in the Kaiserfels Hotel, St Johann in Tirol. Booked as a package through Crystal.
https://www.kaiserfels.at/
While I was there as a solo adult, there were plenty of kids around, from babies to teenagers.
It has a good pool (which always had numbers of kids in it),a kids playroom and childcare facilities if needed. https://www.kaiserfels.at/hotel/kinderbetreuung/
Meals are all buffet, so easier to pick and choose what the kids want to eat, and it is right next to a gondola station and a drag lift with ski school meeting outside.
About 90 minute transfer from Salzburg (though we had to wait for another flight before leaving airport).

On the pricey side, but have a look at the Dachsteinkönig, Gosau, Dachstein West.
www.dachsteinkoenig.at
It’s a family only hotel with amazing facilities and only 200m max from the beginner area and lift station. There’s even a “train” where the kids club leaders will take youngsters to/from the pistes/kids club beginner area.
Transfers from Salzburg around an hour - I guess that the hotel would arrange this, unless you plan on hiring a car.
The skiing is predominantly intermediate and based around three villages - Gosau, Russbach and Annaberg. It’s not a big area but you do get a good feeling of travel.

Stayed at Kinder Hotel in Ladis, Laderhof, which was great.
Some other family friendly hotels which we have stayed at would be Landhotel Schermer Westendorf and Rauriserhof Hotel in Rauris, both with manageable transfers. If you fancy somewhere other than Austria then Vestlia Resort in Geilo and Radisson Blu in Trysil are both excellent. Vestlia doesn't meet your short transfer requirement but you can travel by train and it's a gorgeous journey which my son loved.

Kinderhotels are brilliant...in summer or winter.
We did two many years ago with our then young children...

Ski slopes are right outside the hotels.

10 minute minibus transfer to beginner slopes and cable car for other slopes.
Both roughly 45 mins from Innsbruck or 2 hours from Munich. Lovely drive from both airports too...

Thanks all- this is so helpful!! I will definitely investigate all these options.
I have one final question- I know everywhere is busy Feb half term but just wondering if there are any particularly busy areas to avoid?

I second Hotel Bär in Serfaus, just had the week before Easter there and it was fantastic - we are looking at going back in summer hols (and am being pestered daily about this by the kids). Also excellent is Ellmauhof in Hinterglemm - which is unusual in being ski in/out (although a steepish blue so not for total beginners)

A second mention for the Ellmauhof in Hinterglemm, which has an on-site magic carpet lift and ski instruction for the very small and I seem to remember a free shuttle to the ski school for the older kids.
