 Poster: A snowHead

... a 6-day lift pass with SUNWEB printed on it that was on a shelf near to the entrance machines for a gondola at the bottom of a resort?
Not so close that it was likely someone used it to tap in then dropped it. But close enough that it was possible it was put there on purpose for someone else to find.
Because that's what happened to me in Alpendorf on Monday. And my response was to take it to the ticket counter downstairs in case it had been dropped by accident.
But the more I thought about it, the more likely it seemed that someone had deliberately placed it there and I missed out on a rather profitable opportunity as at that point, I'd still only purchased a 4-hour pass for that day.
I know it hadn't been collected or reported by the end of the day and it's the fact SUNWEB was printed on it that makes me think it belonged to someone who had failed to make a group trip.
So in hindsight, I wish I'd held onto it and gone to the ticket office at the end of the day and said that someone had given it me, but that I wanted to check it hadn't already been used by someone else.
Your (honest) thoughts?

They are usually non transferable so I doubt the ticket office would have given it back to you if you'd checked it with them.
Either someone dropped it or someone left it there for someone to find. If dropped, probably got cancelled and re issued.

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

@GuyrillaMonsoon, you did the right thing. Mrs U dropped her Chamonix annual pass somewhere earlier in the season, cancelled and replaced within the hour.

Probably dropped by accident and then found and placed there by someone else.
You might have had problems using it. A lot of resorts photo pass holders as they go through gates and check and later those pics people using the pass later (lifts with a tablet). People have got caught out where they've simply picked up the wrong pass at their accomodation.

Same as we did when we found £300 cash on the street when my son was 10 years old - hand it in to the police.
A lesson in basic honesty for my son - and in our case we found out it belonged to an old lady who took it out the bank and dropped it en route home.

We spent the whole week as a family using the wrong ski passes in the three valleys. We were only found out on our final day, when my wife was asked how old she is (not that unusual, she still gets carded occasionally at Sainsburys!) and it was then explained that she was using a child's pass, but my daughter was on an adult pass.

The sunweb pass can be identified back to the purchaser (didnt it have a name printed on it?) by the barcode. They are usually issued by sunweb with the persons name on the envelope.
Also a photo is taken (usually) on first use at most resorts. So if it had been activated & your face did not match, it would have been flagged & lift gate not open.
It could also had been a child pass, etc.
I would not be surprised if someone had gone to the lift pass to buy the carre niege insurance & left their lift pass behind or dropped it.

My wife and I ordered our lift passes online a few years ago and they came with our names on them. We just recharge the online when needed but this Christmas there was a problem doing online so we went to the lift passes office for renewal. Unfortunately the operator messed up and associated my wife’s photo with my card and vice versa.
After a couple days use I was pulled aside getting on the second lift of the day and asked to show my lift pass, a woman’s face had appeared on the screen which was inconsistent with my beard. On seeing my pass and my wife she said ok and we thought nothing more about it all day thinking my wife had come through the gate straight after me and the liftie had mixed the two pictures up. The same thing happened the next day and this time the liftie took both passes into the office and told us what had happened.
My wife is livid that she is using a lift passes with my name on it.
Back to the original post. I suspect some one simply dropped the pass and has gone and got another. If they’d purchased a pass they didn’t need they’d probably be trying to sell it on at a discount.

@GuyrillaMonsoon, I get your point, was someone giving away something they didn't need as a kind gesture. BUT I very much imagine it was dropped and put there by the first person who found it. So yeah, you did the right thing IMO.

And love to help out and answer questions and of course, read each other's snow reports.

No, it didn't have a name printed on it, just Sunweb (and it was definitely an adult ticket although I think it had EE in the bottom right-hand corner whereas mine had just E).
I'd actually had a long chat (in German) with the lady I got my ticket from because I was initially trying to reload Skidata cards I had from elsewhere and discovered that whilst Ski Amade uses the same system and could read the cards, they aren't able to reload them.
So I went back to see her at the end of the day and it still hadn't been claimed and no lost passes had been reported. I should have got her to scan it then and see if they had a name / photo against it, but now I'll never know.
Unless I end up going back on Friday and if she's working again, see if she can answer the various questions I now have!

I found a season pass on an outdoor table sort of near a bar a few weeks ago. This type have a photo and name on the front of the card so no use to anyone else. I figured someone had found it on the floor and put it on the table, so I handed it in to the Kassa, where they would probably be able to look up the holder's contact details. Also, the Kassa would be the first place to check when they realised it was lost.
