In better news looks like some cold pow coming for the weekend. Seems snow coming down to lake level tomorrow. Hopefully there’ll be enough to ride back to town.

We're planning to drive over from Chamonix tomorrow but I have lost my boots! Posting in case anyone has pointers to somewhere likely to rent me Tecnica Zero G Tours (women's) in Verbier - I would be most grateful

Montagne Show at the lift station in Le Chable.
They may not have those exact boots, but they are heavily orientated towards touring and will have something that should work.

Or if Montagne Show doesn’t have anything that fits try no1 sport near to Médran lift station.
What size are you? I’ve got a pair of 25.5’s at my place I think

@BobinCH, I'm a smaller size unfortunately but thanks so much for thinking of that! Brilliant to have hire shop suggestions, thank you to you and to @rungsp. En route now as got in very late last night.
How was it? Very excited to see how the conditions for itineraries will be next week when I'm in town for the St Nicholas event, plus a couple days after, though I'm conscious most of the major players like Tortin/Mont Gele will still be closed until the 14th.

Started with Lac des Vaux ridge, then headed down to the (closed) itineraries. First Col des Mines (Ba Combe variation), then Valon d’Arbi, a La Tzoumaz lap (also closed but the lift was open to get across) and finally finished with an Attelas couloir.
Sun was quite strong though so off piste will need a top up before it’s in condition again.
7 Dec 25 12:00 La Tzoumaz 1500m 4.4°C on balcony - Snow falling quite heavily and forecast to continue to mid-afternoon (video below)
Snow conditions are above average for the time of year and with a long period of sub-zero° temperatures until a couple of days ago, there’s been a lot of snow making on top of a good fall last week. It warmed up overnight to ~4°C so down at the village level it was slushy and the roads clear. Precipitation at village level (1500m) started after 9am as light rain, then sleet but is now (midday) snow.
The Savoleyres sector opened yesterday (Sat 6 Dec) with limited runs and one lift (Nord) on top of the main télécabines La Tzoumaz<>Savoleyres and Verbier<>Savoleyres. Piste conditions were very good right down to the bottom. The final runs would have gone slushy last night, I surmise, but not bare. The forevast is for temperatures to rise to 10°C at 1500m in the village on Thursday, then drop back down subsequently, and sunny from tomorrow at least to the Weekend.
Fairly quiet, as you can see, and lovely weather. 9°C on the balcony at 1500m, 2°C at Savoleyres summit (2,344m). Firm base, fairly hard-packed under the surface. But below ~1700m tending towards soft, and slushy on final run to the village from Etablons. Surprised that it was a bit rocky on the lower part of the Etablons run. But overall, nice piste conditions if you stay higher up.
And they were testing the new lift up from Verbier to Savoleyres:

Sunny, cold...really cold if you are in the shade.
Snowmaking machines doing their stuff.
Verbier pistes are in very good condition indeed given the circumstances.
Top to bottom coverage and full width. Not boilerplate at all, in fact really nice grippy coverage to ski on.
The only runs that are not open are very peripheral indeed (La Rouge and Moulins).
Busy today, but not overcrowded, still a pleasure to ski and although there were queues they weren't too bad.
Bruson yesterday was very quiet, as usual, but the snowmaking is not so good and there was a degree of lose gravel stones on some pistes, not rocks, nothing to gouge your skis but enough to surface scratch the bases.
The weather forecast suggest repeat-repeat-repeat of these conditions for the foreseeable future
Happy.New Year everyone!

From my, biased to Siviez, pov:
Verbier does indeed have the best snow. Snow is holding up remarkably well, it has been consistently cold which helps but definitely could do with new snow. And I see a few flakes (only) are now forecast for next week. Tended to circuit Chondola, Attelas and Lac de Vaux (the new 6 seater, that replaced the crappy 3 seater, helps a lot with queues in there and is a good option if the 4 is busy).
Bruson was an exercise in avoiding the loose rocks, barring Passay.
Vallon d'Arbi hard work but do-able. Ski out at the end may be getting sketchy by now.
Only ski Gentiane or Chassoure if you don't like your skis. Mont Fort not bad after the initial entry but that's true to some extent, even in the best conditions. Swerve Gentiane, I know it means the drag and a bit of skating but your skis will thank you.
I thought queues were a pain in the morning from Boxing day onwards. Tortin lift in Siviez in particular. That should change for next week (Saturday is changeover day) and will improve dramatically.
Plan du Fou was the biggest surprise for being in reasonable condition. I really wouldn't like to fall on there in icy conditions or indeed any conditions. Nendaz is surprisingly OK bar the return slope to the gondola.
Even going over to Veysonnaz/Thyon wasn't bad, though some bone hard bits on Mayens and Piste de L'Ours. Matze easily best run on that side and Etherolla OK. That short but icy, steep bit on the way back towards Siviez is indeed icy!

Snow falling very heavily now, huge flakes . Lucked out today with more than decent visibility.
Anyone arriving here as these days of heavy snowfall have come to an end … so lucky.
There's a minute's silence tomorrow in Verbier, for Crans.

It’s at 14:00 as part of the National day of mourning. There will be a memorial service held in Crans Montana. Across the country a 1 minute silence will be observed at 14:00 with church bells ringing for 5 minutes

Our Warren Smith coach took us mildly off piste, mid mountain Verbier … the powder depth mid afternoon a ski stick’s length. I know this because of recovering after a minor spill. Pistes predictably were churned up canyons & peaks by mid morning, it’s incredible how soon that happens.
A great week, hope to return.

Flippin hell!
We had to leave first thing today...just got loaded onto a shuttle train at Calais after a long day of brutal wind and rain across France.
Glad we booked the tunnel and not a ferry!
BUT missing what is looking like a legend powder day
Well be back in 3 weeks so not all bad.....

Snowed heavily & continuing to do so. Verbier and everything down to 500m altitude has deep settled snow (on my way to Geneva by trains).

Jan 22: On piste conditions are very good in the La Tzoumaz / Savoleyres sector. Nice base and consistent cover of powder. Temps are about 3-5°C day peak on the balcony at 1500m, -2°C overnight.
