RE the Lecht, I think they've been closed Thurs Fri to get setup for the weekend, prep runs etc. I expect it'd be decent.

And to add, webcams look excellent today at Glenshee and Cairngorm. Hopefully a good weekend in prospect.

Apart from the wind on Saturday it was pretty good(we were touring in the cairngorms)
Most of the fresh from Thursday night has mostly melted or been shifted around by the wind.

The Glencoe Mountain Resort "Powder Alarm" has been activated, and things are looking up for a massive reset on the mountain.
The Big Reset:
A heavy weather system is moving in, with 27cm to 37cm of fresh snow expected over the next seven days. Even better, long-range forecasts suggest we’re in for even more snow beyond that.
The Peak Days:
Thursday (March 12) and Friday (March 13) are the target days for the heaviest falls. Temperatures at the summit are expected to drop to -4°C, ensuring that the new snow sticks. Crucially, the freezing level is predicted to drop as low as 300m by Friday, which will hopefully turn the plateau white again.
The Weekend Outlook:
With heavy snow forecast starting Thursday night, there is a very high probability of the Plateau Poma and Coire Pollach reopening. If the accumulation hits predicted levels, we could see the Main Basin and Happy Valley transition from "firm/icy" to "epic powder" conditions.
I’ll keep you updated as it develops…

Hmmmm dunno about that, there will def be snow but also mixed snow/wet who knows.
Glenshee update is , well, not great. I'm sat at home if that's any indication Pray for snow next few days, won't need much to link it all back together again. Had to shut everything this AM as wind came up fast, nothing out the back could open. Sunnyside passable under the chair, rest not great i'm sorry to report.
Closed Wed/Thu now

So to answer that question a couple of pages back about lifts, and this is not an absolute definite but I'd be confident that Carn Aosda and Meall Odhar won't run again, very 50/50 on Glas Maol as there's a fault on it that couldn;t be fixed. Needs investment basically.

If Glenshee have money to invest on anything in future then repairing Glas Maol needs to be priority. Best snow holding and a unique run (nothing else in Scotland quite like it). When open the punters come en-masse
Glad the 'shee had a better season this winter.

I’m inclined to agree but for the fact getting there is increasingly difficult to keep going when the temps rise. We’d still be open but for there being no way there and back. That’s where Glencoe is better/easier - it’s a vertical resort so even if the bottom isn’t linked you can walk up and get access.

True..... Though the walk from top of Sunnyside chair to Meall Odhar no longer than across the plateau at Glencoe
Crowd funder to save Glas Maol required
It's a frustration of mine that some of the most snow sure / interesting lifts in Scotland no longer active.
West Wall chair / Braveheart and now Glas Maol

Make it a free ride area with unpisted but patrolled areas and crowd fund it with some discounts or future day tickets for the area???

Doesn’t take much more to open it, we need to push the lift up track anyway so the effort to piste the two runs is nothing. Avi control is main thing as we can’t do anything other than ski cut it and theres also a bit we're not allowed access to anyway so it's not quite a 'completely open' area to ski in. I’m sure it will be fixed, having Caenlochan and Coire Fionn running has been great

That is a shame if Carn Aosda is at the end of its life. Not repairing Meall Odhar poma, however should be a priority when funds are available. The removal of Meall Odhar t-bar was a big mistake from a skiers perspective as it meant caenlochan and MO poma mostly became access lifts to get into the 3rd valley. If we now only have Caenlochan - one poma to access 3 lifts in the 3rd valley, it will just be massive queues and the Meal Odhar runs won't be realistically skiable on busy days due to queues.
Hopefully there is the will, and the money to get it back in use one day.

Looking at webcam and fb footage, Glencoe seems to be a proper winter wonderland at the mo, but Cairngorm looks mainly snow-free with just a bit of snow clinging to the higher runs. Guessing this is not an accurate summary unless there's been a big thaw over the weekend? I thought there was a ton of fresh snow across all the ski areas...

@Neil Neige, recent snowfall has come from the west. Therefore less fresh in the east.

We almost got open Friday, well we managed to get the top tow running and the cliffy and then by the time we'd checked happy valley and the main basin it was blowing harder and gusting v v hard. So that was that, closed it all up and back down, home for lunch ! It's definitely going to be better once this weather calms down but that will be Thursday maybe and by then it will have rained i'm afraid.

Bright start to the day for Cairngorm and Glencoe. Little bit of fresh for Cairngorm by the looks of things too. Maybe a little more in the next couple of days but windy. Mon/Tues could be better than the Easter weekend?

Really pleased to see the Cairngorm getting a lot more positive interactions this winter. While they deserved a lot of the (near constant) abuse over the funicular debacle, it feels like they've turned a corner.

Totally agree, they've been on snow now pretty much non stop from start of Dec to now. New management are very pro-snow, it will however take a long time for the wounds to heal with the local community over past behaviour. And that train is still a total waste of money but hey ho !

Agree - Cairngorm has definitely made the most of it this winter.
5-month ski season!
The funk-ular remains a total disaster and Ciste chair should never have been removed.
But fair play fo the new management for turning it around and running ski area with can do attitude.

Weather warning now issued for up to 30cms of snow in some areas. Probably won’t do any harm to the Scottish April skiing
