Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Or if you only want to get to the lower end of VT, including most of the lifts, you can avoid that flat bit by taking Mont de la Chambre, and cutting left after the restaurant onto he boulevard that cuts across to the foot of Pluviometre then into VT

This is my preferred route. Nice run down as well.

My question is: what is the ‘smart’ way for them to join the rest of us for lunch, drinks etc during the day? I suppose the choice is for them to come up a lift and meet at the top, or to find somewhere at valley level (Chaudanne or Mottaret). Pedestrian passes seem quite dear?

TIA for any ideas/ advice.

Some good suggestions already. 2 other options are Le Rok which is at the mid point of the Pas Du Lac Gondola. It has a fantastic terrace, good food and is not prohibitively expensive. Also Folie Douce at the mid point of the Saulire lift has much better food than you would expect and isn't particularly rowdy until about 2/3pm.

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

What type of "engagement"? And what's intimidating? Puzzled

Sorry, I have a non-skiing OH who is fit and mobile, however meeting at mountain restaurants is very easy for skiers, but less easy for pedestrians, even the shortest slopes can be tricky, and they can be made intimidating by having to navigate around skiers. I can remember arranging to meet at Sercoupe which is blind to pedestrians from above and steep, on top of Saulire, where they have to navigate around hordes of skiers, and Folie Douce similar issues. I’m not saying it can’t be done, but what seems easy for skiers is less so for pedestrians, hence my suggestions, which can all be accessed by road or path, rather than lift.

TBH my OH now prefers a week at home rather than the hassle only to have to engage in conversations revolving around the ski adventures thus far

Thanks once again to all for the restaurant recommendations. Very much appreciated and useful too. Will comment on each of these and others, and when we visit.

Also thanks to @ecureuil @Je suis and @monkey for route finding. Most helpful.

Got a last minute deal to Courchevel Moriond for next week, how's the conditions looking currently?

Just got back from a long weekend ...

Sun feels warm but strangely the air temperature is on the cool side ..

Courchevel runs are holding exceptionally well - Suisses was bliss on Saturday as was Combe Saulire and the lower part of Murettes / Eclipse. I wouldn't venture below 1650 given the freeze / thaw cycle.

The western side of Meribel was also good, the runs down to Chaudanne were a bit grim in the afternoon.

Le Rok (mid point restaurant at pas Du Lac) looked very much closed down for the season when we were out in Jan/Feb.
