Super interesting about the spar. I reckon my st Anton days will be numbered by the time that change takes place though.
Its a bit of a weird spot for moos part 2, unless it's a much later thing, as you have to walk quite a fiddly route in ski boots which I don't like doing. I love the pre cooked chickens in spar so that's why I would be sad! Also it's the only place in town that I can buy snus as far as I am aware?...

That is about right rent prie if you have a working visa and registered in Austria, You need this to work pay taxes and be insured etc.
Always better to find a Job with Accommodation inc !!
If your a visitor on an extended stay visa with no right to work you will pay exactly the same price per month that a tourist would . Accommodations providers very rarely, if ever give any discounts to non-registered (non workers) guests..
Workers also get a tax allowance for their rent & if flying in & out from say OZ or NZ etc they can deduct their flights & any other things (warm winter work wear aka Ski Kit from there end of year Tax returns ..

Yeh I'm British so can't work in Austria sadly. The prices she mentioned still seem oddly low to me though, I didn't hear of others paying this little except for having multiple people per room.
This was the case also for meribel in France.
You mentioned last year I was a tourist, I'm happy to be classified as one.

@badatbetting,
As i said it is about right even(much) lower if you rent In Flirsh (many do) ..
What were you paying as a Tourist per month, facilities, privacy and location ???
also Tourist Tax €150 per month?

Yeh tourist tax is €5 a day, so €10 for me and my mate. Flirsch was cheaper but still not enough to tempt me into it.
I paid €16k for the season, pretty central location and around 60m squared. Can definitely get things cheaper but it's tricky to organise from outside the country. I don't really know what you mean by privacy, the door locked which is basically all I require...

We've left our stuff in the apartment so we aren't able to change now.
I still worry that the peak weeks (new years, half terms) would be significantly more than €118 a night right? Also with a hotel we wouldn't be able to cook food at all? The sauna and swimming pool can be used in the arlberg central place so I dunno if a hotel would be better for that...
How would you be getting cheaper beer? That sounds a bit odd that hotels would be cheaper...
I definitely wouldn't be booking a hotel in Flirsch for the season, seems like it negates the point?
Also we need to show accommodation for our whole stay to even have a chance of getting the visa (which seems touch and go anyway...) so we'd have to get the whole period's hotels booked - I think this would be tricky.
Do you even see many in the 'pommy bubble'? I met extremely few brits last season (I imagine due to not getting visas), or do you view Irish people as Poms too?
I do appreciate the post though, its definitely something for me to think about, especially if I don't get approved for the visa

@stanton, one point you are missing is that there is a big difference between living in a small (60sqm) apartment and a hotel room (25sqm if you are lucky). Hotels are fine for short periods but unless you have the budget to pay for a suite then not good longer term. You can often find "Aparthotels" in cities which offer the benefits of both but dont think such things exist in St Anton

I'm having a quick google and struggling to find hotels for that price full stop even in the quieter weeks... I think some hotels do tend to do deals to people who do repeat visits, however since beside last season I have never been to St Anton so can't get any of these...
If you do find bargain hotels for €100 a night (for two people) in St Anton please do shout out though, as my friends have always been looking for this sort of thing!

@badatbetting, try looking in Pettneu, there are still a good number of old style "Pension Garni" though they get booked early, especially with repeat bookings. I have pretty much resigned myself that a room in St Anton (or even Pettneu) is going to be at least €150 a night likely more. There is the hostel in St Jakob, no idea how easy to book as well beyond wanting to stay in hostels these days!

Yeh my mates want to stay in st Anton for the obvious reasons, they moaned very large amounts about st Jakob, so I dread to think what their reaction to Pettneu would be! I personally think for the comfort of st Anton I'd pay a significant amount more than pettneu, and even more over Flirsch.
I think we all want to know where Stanton is actually from, and where he stays...

@badatbetting, Pettneu way more convenient than St Jakob, a good number of places to eat & a bar all in the village, easy bus connection to Nassereinbahn (usually less crowded than from St Jakob and doesnt take any longer). I agree though that staying in the middle of St Anton is best but a big premium to do so.

@badatbetting - you pay for what you get, ski workers are taking the smaller accoms and filling them to the max, 15k for a nice one bed apartment in anton with kitchen and lounge is normal.

@badatbetting, Im dual national (CH/NL). Basel (CH) is my hometown. I have a winter home in the Tirol way down valley on a sunny hillside overlooking Landeck Zams and the Krahberg (Venet Ski Area) with spectacular views along the Inn Valley ..
__________________________________________________________________________________________________________
@munich_irish, .. As a Tourist your there to party.. How long do you spend in your room .. be it 25m2 or 60m2 ..
@badatbetting admitted he/she was out parting everyday apres ski & nightlife was number one prority & skiing/boarding was the second priority.. so a bed and shower would be enough
Privacy = Non Shared Space.
I am not suggesting staying in a Hotel every night..
First you secure your first 4 weeks of accommodation (inc Xmas & New Year) in a Pension (inc Breakfast) This will tie you over the initial period and you will have relaxed time to find your next accommodation up until the Kids holidays in February. For this period you move out of town maybe to a nice Hotel down valley..(much cheaper than St Anton) but on the free Ski Buss or Free Postbus (Hotels further than Skibus give customers a Postbus Pass)
Once the Holidays are over you can look for March & April which is easy..
Also look into book 1-2 weeks just Chalet accommodation (Fullboard) through Dutch & Scandinavian Operators for Cheap Money ...
You play the game ... you just want to survive the season ..and not break the bank ..its possible ..€16K is way to much ..
Hotel Prices down valley for Bier are much cheaper than Bars in St Anton. .. For example Hotel GasthofPost in Strengen which is very popular with locals/workers to stop off for Food & Drinks.. Bier was €3.50 0.5L although this may of gone up a bit as I did not visit last season . Hotels in Flirsch it is only €5:00.

Yeh you've answered your own question. Nightlife was my number 1 priority, and if you leave Murmel at 3am daily the cost of a taxi to Strengen will be absolutely shocking, and I would have spent as much/more as living central... I refuse to drink-drive as well which I do realise lots of people do. The whole appeal of St Anton is the wild times, living in Strengen I may as well be in any other resort...
I agree with @hsdee that the price I paid is normal, and fairly inline with everyone else I spoke to. Some people even paid the same amount to be in Flirsch! (however that was a monthly rolling figure so obviously a premium)
The biggest factor is with Stanton's idea I wouldn't get a visa as you need to show accommodation for the whole season, so the whole discussion is irrelevant.

@badatbetting, the cost involved in leaving Murrmel at 03:00 everyday probably far exceeds all the other costs

When I spoke to him last year he said he was going to be there for the coming season (2025/2026) too. He has a couple of days off each week (Sat and Wed) where the other guy (Dave) plays/sings in the Murrmel instead.

You should of been around in St.Anton 20-35+ yrs ago it was a lot Wilder. Way more Bars, Discos, etc open until 06:00 some places 09:00am...You could fall out of one place and next door there was another...When the sun came up you could go to village bakery for Fresh (made on site) bread, rolls etc and then take the morning FreeSki bus back home or the Taxi Driver who would also be in the Club/Bar and have his car right outside and would often give a ride home for free at your own risk (diffrrent times)
One day I will make a list of all the old joints... Maybe someone can start ?

Same applies here,,,, 20:00hrs closing is now very early ... KK used to stay open till very late often 01:00 02:00 sometimes 04:00 then skiing down to town (old train station & Bakery) No Poms were allowed in the KK ..that was a staff rule ..
Apres Ski in St.Anton is really nothing like it used to be ... It used to be very Skibum orientated Hardcore whereas nowadays it is more like a Wannabees must "done that" , pseudo Yuppie's "look at me" & Family Outings.

Mrs Stanton looks like a Russian Moll!
Is that what St Anton (the resort) is really wanting to attract?
Then all the pistes will be empty!
5* hotels and champagne bars will simply mint the new "international" clientele, just like Courchevel did, until the local gendamerie realised the rich daddies had too many drop-dead gorgeous girlie "nieces" looking like 16 year old vamps.

Not the only occasion there has been plenty of German Adult shoots around the hill and inside Hutte..
On a more upmarket side there was the annual Skilehrerinnen Kalender shot all round the Arlberg...

Its easy to get to Sonnenkopf by car, although we usually are travelling from St Anton not Lech, but I would say about 30 mins drive from Lech. There is plenty of parking at the Sonnenkopf base lift.
It's a nice area, mostly easy skiing, popular with families. There's no artificial snow making but after a big dump of snow the powder stays for ages even at the side of the piste.
If you've never been there it's certainly worth a day out for something a bit different to the rest of the Arlberg area, but it's not somewhere you would really want to spend more than one day at.
I've no idea how you get there by public transport but I expect there are buses that go to Klosterle and Dalaas. Someone else on here will know probably.

@boabski, There's a bus 720 runs stuben to bludenz with a stop just outside the sonnenkopf bahn, so take the bus from lech to stuben or ski there. They would be pay buses so if there's a group of you a taxi may also work.
