@routine, What accommodation are you booking?
@doclaura, I could do either week, although going on 4th might be slightly better. How late will you leave it before deciding?

Just a quick update, our group is all change. We're now out on the week of the 4th, staying near Plein Sud and have added an extra 6y/o to the group.
@littlestboarder would love to catch up with any of her old friends from the last bash, and the rest of the extended fam are always happy to hang out with some snowheads.

IMPORTANT UPDATE ON THIS THREAD
Hi All,
I am the snowhead who originally suggested a bootleg family bash - but it is now looking unlikely that my family and I will be able to make it on an Easter trip (as we've had to book something earlier to coordinate with relatives coming over from Australia).
Sorry I couldnt see this one thorough but there is clearly a lot of Snowhead interest in an Easter holiday trip - hopefully you can chat amongst yourself and agree on a resort (unless someone wants to volunteer to be bootleg organiser?).

I haven't booked anything yet, but I'm still keen and I'm able to be flexible so will prob wait until nearer the time and see which dates are most popular with others. Although if anyone wants to organise a proper group I could commit earlier! There'd be me and my son, 10 yrs, who has skied twice although not for 3 years. He was doing a few reds and will pick it up again quickly, he's v sporty and fit and does a good bit of mtbing. He'll be doing at least some lessons too.

Hi,
Anyone still going 28/03-03/04 older teenagers? Im hoping to maybe arrange for my kids 17 & 19 to meet up with others that sort of age. We prefer just cruising easy blues (bad knees), kids may be happy to go off on their own but thought I'd see if anyone else is in the same boat. They may well be mortified at the prospect of going off with people they haven't met, but I'll cross that bridge if I have to.

im late to this forum topic but just a heads up 28 March week looks to be v expensive (when isnt skiing expensive) but compared to 4 April which for some reason is school holidays and much cheaper. I did a search on Crystal Ski and an apartment in Tignes Le Lac and flights transfer package was twice the price than going on 4 April. Id rather go earier but a lot more money. Every ski holiday appears to have gone up a lot this year.

Hi. Am new here. Researching for week for me and 10 yr old daughter (I'm experienced skier since young/20s/30s but am now 50 and haven't been for yonks!). Desperate to take my daughter to the slopes (she's learnt basics on fake slope) but partner not keen (argh) so interested in sharing chalet with other families/singles with kids here. Funds low. BTW has anyone travelled on train from St Pancras to Moutiers, and bus to Val Thorens? Probably will have to look at 2027 now.

Worth having a look at this thread in case it's a good match for what you're looking for with your daughter.
In terms of your other question, yes, I and others have travelled to Val Thorens (and other resorts in the area) by train. Have a look here. That includes @Tazz2bme, who you'll see on the other thread I've linked to.

My daughter (coming up 10) and I have travelled together to VT a couple of times. She much preferred the train to flying as far more relaxed and could spread out and do what she wanted.
She also had skied on a plastic slope before her first time skiing and took to it well.
Feel free to message me if you want any more details

Thank you both. Will look into the trip to Les Arcs in April but not sure if theyre a family crew I find the Eurostar and SNCF highly efficient so will try to go that way.

How does one ensure your own twin / double room?

May I enquire on how you went about your day (when your daughter was new to skiing) - if one finds ski instruction for one's child (with s'one else' kid hopefully) did you wait to ski with her after her lesson or leave her and join others? Have you found it easy to catch up at lunchtime with your kid? Have always skied with ski friends when I was younger... no lessons involved then, so undure how things work. Anyway I would be sure to sort in the first day. Thanks.

You just write in the comments who you want to share with. Anyone can request a room share with a specific person. So just book for you both (you each need a snowheads account) and write in the comments for both accounts that you want to share a room with each other (and, if important, if you prefer twin or double).

When you declare and interest in the bash, new buttons open up, under each of which is a comments box. When you get to the room selection part, as @Gämsbock says, enter your room share preference in the comments box. Your daughter will need her own snowheads account and name, so you just enter share Non's daughter, or whatever name she chooses (or you choose to saddle her with ).

Just go to the brown box in the top right hand corner and click send/read messages
you can search for a snowheads name and send a private message.
alterantively, if you hover over the name you can see options to view and then to message that person

I had pre-booked morning ski school for her. Last year most of us used Prosneige who were good, but other options are available. They quickly make friends, so I wouldn't worry about that score.
Prosneige offer a lunch club too if you wanted to extend your skiing.
I skied with other snowheads in the morning, then peeled off to collect her and skied with her in the afternoon. It is close enough that you could go back to the hotel for a cheap lunch, or there are plenty of options on easy slopes nearby. Snowheads often gather at the knife and fork. The first year my daughetr went she was was only really good for a couple of runs, a break and one or 2 more after, but she was only 5 at the time and is quite cautious by nature, and quite slight and gangly in build so not a lot of stamina. My eldest at 10 would have skied all day to the bitter end cramming snacks into himself on the lifts
I would take a relaxed approach to skiing with children and pretty much be guided by her. Regard the lesson time as your skiing time, and write the rest off as time skiing at snail speed picking up stray gloves and poles, whilst rediscovering your snowplough.
You will easily find people to ski with, either outside the boot room (I often dropped my daughter at lessons then loitered at the bottom of the slope from the hotel for people to pass if I hadnt pre-arranged to meet anyone. The pool is well used in the evenings, and all of the children I have seen on bashes have been in there every evening, so it's a great time to chill in the hot tub and discover some ski buddies for the next day. My daughter had a blast, and her pink snowheads buff (a birthday gift from our beloved leader) remains one of her most treasured possessions 4 years later.

Oh thanks so much for your advice! This is all perfect and is exactly the boost I needed. You all sound wonderful. And yes, I am fully ready to rediscover my snow plough and pick up gloves and poles with said child - I cannot wait. Dont think I can get things organised this year but will try my best for next year. Thanks all esp @Tazz2bme.

No, Travelski is out and back on Saturdays. (They also only seem to do Les Arcs at the moment), I got an interrail pass in their 25% off sale. But the SNCF Carte Avantage card also brings the price down.
