Hi. First time visitor to L2A this new year, staying near 1800 village lift. Struggling to find if any group lesson head out from that area. Would someone i the know be able to advise if I’m looking for something that doesn’t exist? Also, if that is the case how easy is it to get to the main meeting area (Jandri?) in the morning? Is it skiable from 1800 without uplift? Thanks.

I’ve not had lessons at L2A, but when we were there most group lessons seemed to meet at Cretes, as there’s a good snowsure beginners area there. In which case the Villages lift would be perfect. Other than the town drag lifts, the only other beginners area is up at the glacier where there is a magic carpet, but no green runs. I’d have thought Cretes would be the best place to learn.
I know there’s talk of a new beginners area at the Jandri mid station (replacing the rope tow I think), however I don’t think that’s happening for the coming season.
For getting around elsewhere, the free busses are frequent and easy. From memory I don’t think it matters which one you get on the way to Jandri, as they all head there from 1800, but make sure you get the right colour if you’re heading back from Jandri!

Unfortunately nothing in 1800 area.
The closest lessons are at the foot of the Belle Etoil lift. There is everything except the competition and off piste courses.
It is easy to get to Jandri if you can ski. Just walk a bit above the start of the village 1800 lift and ski down to Jandri. It is a green slope so if you can do snow plough you should be good.

There were loads of lessons in 1800 when I was there last year, but think they might have been all kids lessons. They were all starting at the bottom of the Villages lift.
The other option if you can ski green runs is to ski down and get the Petite Aiguille chair and ski the green run across to the other area. It's a bit narrow and gets busy at the end of the day but is fairly gentle. I wouldn't recommend for a first timer though

Thanks. The lessons I’m looking for a children’s of ESF bronze star sort of level, so a good few skiing years experience.

@SnoodyMcFlude, afaik, those lessons are for visitors of Belambra and Village Club du Soleil. They are not publicly available.
@Djgrahamd, your kids are skilled enough to go to Belle Etoile meeting point from the Village. Depending on where exactly is your accommodation it is a short or short-ish walk and then ski. I was taking my kids to classes that are on the other side of the village and we skied it all with exception of the walk and the drag lift next to Jandri.

Looking like we will be experimenting with LDA/L2A this year after several back to back years in Tignes. Yes, I am prepared for the contrast...
We are (unfortunately) Easter skiers due to family setup, so again - prepared for any disappointment in advance!
Given the linear nature of the town, are there any bad areas to be in for getting onto lifts first thing? My better half hates walking more than about 150m in boots if she can help it, and whilst navette has been a good option in Tignes, ski in - ski out is the ideal. All of us are more than competent on anything other than the iciest / lumpiest blacks in Tignes so not too concerned if runs back to base are on the more challenging side for the resort.
Not got accommodation booked just yet, but plenty of SC availability it seems.
Also, any recommendations for pack of private lessons for a young man with learning disabilities? He's skied 6x mornings privately with lessons the last 6 or 7 times we've been and enjoys it, but rarely gets onto anything more demanding than the easiest of blues. Ultimate has been the ski school in Tignes we've used very successfully the last few times with a very patient and fun set of instructors. Looking for something to replicate that in LDA if possible.
Thanks in advance for any help!

@larkim, Easter is a bit earlier in 2026 than it was in 2025 so you might be good for snow all the way to resort, so that could help avoid down lifting.
We were there the week before Easter and there was a big university snow sports trip and TBH, it didn't feel crowded at all. The only issues we had with lift crowds was when that humungous dump of snow hit the Alps about the 16/17th and it basically put the avalanche risk up really high, so the runs around the top of the Diable lift that lead to the Jandri mid-station were closed for a few hours to make them safe.
Other than that, we never had any issues on both the Diable or the Jandri 3S; it felt like there was only ever one or two minutes of waiting for the mid-station Jandri to go up to the glacier, the rest of the lifts were all great.
Can't help on the coaching side.
For accommodation, we stayed in a chalet (Chalet faverot) we booked through Sunweb; 8 of us, came to about £400 each (including lift passes). It's owned by the lovely folks who have the Belle Etoille hotel next door, who couldn't do enough to make our stay enjoyable. It's fully wheelchair accessible also with ground floor bedroom and shower/wc. That place is about 5 mins from the Diable lift and probably no more than 15 mins walk from the Jandri. There are ski bus stops at the end of the street. It's a good location plus you can get to Vallee Blanche behind you relatively easily.
For ski-in/ski-out then you probably want to be at the entrance to the town - haven't stayed that end so can't comment on what it's like for daily lift access.

I'd say anything close to Jandri or Diable ski lifts would be a safe bet. Jandri takes you to the glacier (mandatory mid-station gondola change), while Diable links you with Bellecombe sector, from where you can ski to Jandri mid-station or Pierre Grosse. The other two ski lifts, Village 1800 and Belle Etoile are not bad, but forcing you to take an additional unnecessary ride with Cretes ski lift.

We have stayed in the UCPA three times at Easter, it's full board everything included except travel and very reasonably priced and sociable. It's about 5-10 mins walk from the Diable lift or you can catch the ski bus to the Jandri 3S.
We could always ski back down to the bottom of the Diable lift or Jandri though after lunch it's really busy and can be chopped up.
Check Action Outdoors for UCPA availability of family weeks at Easter for LDA, I believe they still have space for 4th April 2025.
The UCPA does include ski lessons, but these were group ones so not really suited to my son who has learning disabilities too. I emailed the ESF and gave them details for him and we had someone a couple of years who really got him/understood his ways and he really enjoyed the private lessons. The instructors name was Nicolas Vergnaud.
Good luck with the planning and have a great time in LDA where ever you choose to stay !

 You know it makes sense.

Plenty of snow 3400-2600. Getting a bit thin below Bellcombe lift in places especially the ski out to Crete’s.
Snow is still good down to 2600 ( that might change as it’s warm and sunny) . Below 2600 it gets progressively more hard pack as it gets lower. No snow forecast this week
Vallee Blanche side not open as is usual this early in the season.

Snow from 3400-2600 is good still . Out first lifts today and it was very good . Snow is still softish but easy to edge and no early signs of ice or hard pack. Below 2600 into fee gets progressively harder especially the last steep pitch and long flat valley bottom to Pierre gros lift. You can still ride/ ski right back into resort but a bit freeze thaw as you get lower.
Hope that helps!

@Liv7, not on the main drag, but one street down, but Le Repaire is excellent. I ended up going there 2 nights.
Lamb shanks were out of this world and both nights I was there ppl at tables beside me had rhe cheese fondue with wild garlic and both tables raved about it.
Menu is on line and it has 5 stars on Trip Advisor.
