We're sitting in the boarding lane. Our 13.16 departure was pushed back to 14.16 and is now scheduled for 15.06 due to a technical problem. We'll be pushing it to get to our hotel for dinner.

@Hells Bells, we had that. Took 45mins to get from M20 to 1st barrier. Signs said last call so drove straight to queue for trains where we waited another 45 mins to get on the train. Very little info on boards & v. frustrating.
There was something about it being busy but hardly a car by the terminal!

@Hells Bells, do hope you get off soon. I remember about 9 or 10 years ago being in a similar position at the tunnel with our train being delayed and delayed, and what should have been a nice leisurely aperitif at the Auberge des Moissons turning into a race down the road together there. Despite phone calls to say we were delayed we were told firmly that the restaurant would close at whatever time. In the event about four harassed couples all screeched in with a few minutes to spare. And the dog just got left with the bags in the car, I am afraid to say.

@Pamski, I've emailed Moissons but I do know they are quite strict with restaurant closing times. Still in boarding lanes which are all full amd noone going anywhere yet. Technical problems have been mentioned.

We are in the boarding lanes. Booked departure 14.45, delayed to 15.38 last time I looked. But the place is really quiet.
Were only booked into an Ibis, so late arrival shouldn't be a problem.

Train left at 3.45, but our friends, who were not in the over height line with us, despite having booked over height, did not get on. The next trains were cancelled and they've been told 5.15. They arrived at the terminal 2 hours before the booked departiure at 2.45, and an hour before we did. They are absolutely fuming.

@karin, its a shambles at the moment. We were really early arriving well before the two hours, checked in about 12.15 and told we were on our booked train of 13.16 by pet reception. They actually called it and by the time we'd cleared border controls they'd delayed it. I've already filled in the complaint form https://t.co/Q5e7lq8Xj1 .

That's why we never book a hotel incase of a long delay, we stop when we get tired or it gets late.
I fear the tunnel infrastructure is getting worn out from lack of investment leading to frequent issues. While problems can occur in any system they seem to be happening more and more

We never used to stop, but last year we drove down daytime Friday, and this year we decided to stop en route cos we couldn't leave home till midday. One of the youngsters couldn't take the whole day off work.

@robs1, Same. We wait until the train is rolling before booking somewhere. We will have driven down from Scotland and we then decide whether we want to stay in Coquelles or to push on for an hour or two.

Hmm. Not sure what that symbol looks like, it was meant to be a thumbs up!
I didnt realise that there is a sliding scale of compensation that you can claim for delays caused by Eurotunnel. 25% for 60 -119 minutes, 50% for 120 -179 minutes.

just wanted to ask regular Eurotunnel users on here, what is the earliest (from original timed crossing), you have arrived at folkestone and been allowed to get on an earlier train, without being stung massive amounts?
with the new terms and conditions
i am booked on the 20:15 tonight, originally my daughters boyfriend would have been working today, but due to him not working, and other factors, we now could actually get there for around 4pm, maybe a bit earlier.
my original booking cost £96, and any earlier ones were around £110. now my train is circa £145, and earlier ones will be £155.
i am happy to pay a difference, but will it be roughly £10 or £50 (as of today's costs, compared to when i booked?), if they even let me on at all due to the new T&C's!!
would rather get away from here at get to the tunnel, and overnight accom as early as possible, but don't want to be turned away and sitting at the service station close by for a couple of hours

@terrygasson, i think you would only be turned away if for some reason e.g technical problems , the terminal car park was full . Ive never been more than 2 hours ahead of booked time but have never been charged extra for an early departure. All our problems have been post check in and beind stuck in boarding lanes or train

As a starter why don't you go online or the app and see how much to change your booking? Even with the new T & C's your booking is changeable.
|
|
|
|
|
|
 You know it makes sense.
|
@terrygasson, if you edit your booking in the App/Online it will cost you £20 and any difference in crossing. This will be the safest way of getting on earlier train.
I have got on 3-hours early without charge, however that was before new T&Cs - if it is quite you are likely to be offered an earlier crossing, the check-in has given us option to pay extra before.
I don't think you will have an issues getting an earlier train, just you are likely to have to pay

@Matt1959, looked online last night, and it looked like it was going to be £50 plus amendment fee. obviously, if i do it the terminal i will not be charged the amendment fee.
may just chance it and see what happens when i get to folkestone.
£50 is not much in the scheme of things, but it pays for a round of beers in the bar in VT!!!
cheers for all the responses
anyway, skiing beckons!!!

Got to tunnel check in this morning (14/3) about 2.5 hours early (not planned). Offered the crossing one hour earlier than booked crossing for free, which was a bonus. French border control took ages but we were fine. However train was delayed as doors malfunctioned on closing. Delay of 20 mins but no real bother as we still arrived in France 40 mins earlier than expected. Autoroutes a dream, practically empty.
One thing that staggered me was a car in the carriage in front of ours.....driver smoking a cigarette with the window open! It stank. Sorry but had to snitch to a ET employee.......

@kettonskimum, that is disgraceful, especially in this day and age, where smoking is outlawed inside almost everywhere.

You would have hoped that the train guard alerted the gendarmes at calais and they were nabbed!!!

@Hells Bells, pretty sure the flash photography thing was from the time cameras had the separate flash bulbs which did whiff.
