Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Vegan options in Châtel

 Poster: A snowHead
Poster: A snowHead
Hi,

We're off to Châtel on Sunday but one of our party (first time skiier) is vegan. I don't suppose anybody has any suggestions of places (anywhere in the Espace Liberté area would do) that might cater for vegans.

I was wondering about vegan tartiflette but I guess that's just a plate of potatoes and onions wink

Thanks,

Ed

Doesn't that normally have butter and cream as well?

As for Châtel restaurants, I wouldn't hold out too much hope. I don't eat in the village very often, and although I have occasionally noticed Vegan options I suspect they'd be limited to only one or two items on most menus.

ISTR that some vegan guests a year or two back did manage to find some vegan stuff like soy or almond milk at the Intermarché, so yeah, that's probably the best option. Also has a British section so you can get your Marmite, HP Sauce and Salad Cream if you need it. Oh, and there's a half-decent Cheddar in the ordinary cheese section, also available in other branches across the country.

Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

When I was out in Chatel in Jan, Happy Cow didn't have anything listed as pure veg/vegan. You may get lucky and stumble on somewhere with an option but I wouldn't bank on it.

For supermarket the Carrefour in Avoriaz had an ok range... it just felt wierd riding back to Chatel with a few days shopping in you rucksack!

Its OK @ecsleath, in that staying over 1000 mtrs altitude veganism doesn't count Very Happy their normal social circle will never find out Laughing

No specific recommendations noted when I was in PDS. But we went to Switzerland over half term and asking for vegan options revealed an amazing array of veggie/vegan menus and options (at the very least everywhere had a couple of vegan options) when we had little expectations. So may be worth asking.

Thanks all,

In fact, there was at least one vegan option almost everywhere we ate (though this included a veggie-burger ordered "sans sauce" and a pizza "sans fromage"). I think she only had to have "just chips" once Happy
