Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Is it that you can arrive any time on the actual day of your booked departure time or is it +\-24 hours of your departure time - I can’t work out which it is?

If it’s a FlexPlus ticket you can travel whenever you like, except for peak dates (weekends either side of Easter for example) when you have to pay a surcharge. Dates shown on their website.

I am presuming if booked a flexiplus for a peak day there is no extra charge for travel at any time on that day but agree its hard to find out.

"Freedom to turn up & board anytime on your booked travel day"

Seems pretty clear to me.

I've always been far too mean to pay Flexiplys. Last Thursday I turned up at 0630 for an 1120 train and was on the next train for £27 charge. Could have waited till 0940 and gone free

@pam w, I would agree for off-peak travel, but if you have to use Eurotunnel during peak periods, it comes into its own. It’s expensive and last weekend we tried the ferry from Dover as an alternative option. Never again. I appreciate that a critical incident had been called, but the organisation at the port left so much to be desired that an expensive flexiplus tunnel still feels like a better option.

We have only used Flexiplus once. It was March 2020 when France locked down. We were unable to amend our Frequent Traveller ticket so booked a new Flexi as that was all that was available. With hindsight we should have just headed for the tunnel and sorted it on arrival. There was hardly a soul there.

As a high-sided vehicle owner, VW van, it's not so easy to just turn up and get on the next train I find, especially in peak periods, so we've used flexi-plus when I think it's going to be mayhem, but the best option, if you can, is simply don't travel at peak periods!

I would disagree having travelled on the tunnel most summers and Feb half terms.

However, instead of paying more for FP (around £250 more), we avoid Saturday crossings like the plague.....crossing later on the Friday and spending about £60 on an overnight French hotel in a family room (take some food and wine with us). It also gets us ahead of the traffic on the Saturday and being on French time from the off.

We often travel just before Christmas, Easter weekend and August Bank holidays. Never needed the Flexiplus yet and we always need a high vehicle slot for a roofbox on car or campervan depending when we're travelling. I guess our luck might run out but any delays in the past 18 years have been because of problems with broken down trains in the tunnel No-one was going anywhere regardless of ticket type.

When we've come home in summer on peak travel days, I think we have been lucky that we've had a caravan in tow. Motorhomes and caravans seem to get fast tracked through their own lane, as they check for people hiding inside, and then directed to separate parking. As such never seem to get delayed

Now we're lucky that we can travel out of peak periods.
