@Sav,

But Talloires as a waypoint but stop following it as you approach - don't go down some lakeside rabbit hole. Follow the signposting, which will be clear by then, for Ugine and Albertville (ie the signposting you were deliberately NOT following in Annecy.....)

Unirent at Geneva (Swiss side) is the same desk as Europcar. We've had really good experiences with them both times we've used them - quite nice cars, very clean.

Referenced as "station" in difference to the village, meaning "ski station" as I understood it from local knowledge there.

@Sav, just as you reach the ski village there's a big sign with it's name on at a road junction, left there takes you to Etoile de Cime (right turn takes you to main shops and other areas) they are only a few hundred meters apart but connected by the snow front for skiing which you can't drive across.
If you follow that left route along to it's end you drive through /underneath Etoile de Cime building straddling the road, with hotel reception just on left as you come out of that covered area, garage entrances are in that "tunnel" there's turning place at the far end for convenience. It's really convenient in location.

Will be on board of Thalys Snow TGV (fingers crossed for any strikes, etc), then getting bus transfer to St Foy. Was considering Les Arcs, but got a good offer on accommodation that I could not refuse, so St Foy it is (again)!

Hi Mooney! We had a fabulous time at Sante Foy! Super pleased we went there and really appreciated all the input from the friendly folk on here!! We found the Europcar hire car as instructed and followed the scenic route to the resort. Thank u all! We boarded every day, explored the whole mountain, very happy with the variety of runs, even got some snow! and enjoyed some lovely off piste. We all loved it. So quiet. No queues!

Ah thanks Rob. Great resort and accommodation was brill too. We got the cheapest room for 4/6 people at Etoile De Cime so wasn’t sure what to expect but the view was incredible and we found the layout spacious and suited us perfectly. We had a couple of lovely meals out, one at Restaurant 1580m which was lovely and a nice walk to get there. I brought loads of basics from homelike salt/pepper, oil etc and we stocked up on food at supermarket in the town nearby and cooked the other nights. The wee shop by our accommodation was handy but very expensive. Snowboards from Skiset were excellent.
