Poster: A snowHead
|
ey there, I’m in Chamonix from March 14-17 and I need a partner for some steeps. At home I’ve skied things like the Grant Teton, Mt. Moran (solo) and lots of other similar things in the Alaska Range and all over the western US. I’ve made many climbing trips to Chamonix but the only line of consequence I have skied there is the Cosmique. I’d really like to fix that if the weather cooperates.
I’m looking for someone with Alpine climbing and steep skiing skills to connect with. I’m less interested in any particular line than in having some challenging fun. If that’s you, please reach out.
My dates are fixed as I have to be in Lofoten on the 18th.

Obviously A snowHead isn't a real person

It may help if you gave some examples of stuff you would ski in Cham (without committing yourself). Steep in Europe generally means in the 40 degree range, something like the ENSA couloir. A lot of the well known Chamonix lines are thought of as extreme: 50 degrees and over. For example the couloir Eugster has sections of 55 degrees with a nfz. Same for the Mallory-Porter.

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

@Johnnysee, I thoroughly recommend Kristoffer Eriksson an IFMGA guide from Wyoming based in Chamonix he'll be able to show you stuff that will blow you away.
I've done circa ten days with him over two or three trips, all tame ski touring, but the day or two in Chamonix was on another scale.

Thanks for the suggestions gents, much appreciated. I’m trying to avoid a guide for $$ reasons but if it comes to it then so be it as I don’t want to waste my few days wandering around town hoping to bump into a partner or skiing the resorts.
I’ll reach out to the folks mentioned and see what I come up with. Any more suggestions would be great.
Many thanks
