Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Esprit Ski lessons for older kids?

 Poster: A snowHead
Poster: A snowHead
We have booked a deal with Esprit in Champoluc but our kids are at the top of the age range that they cater for, they are almost 9 and 12 ( 4 kids in total between two families). Both 12 year olds are around 3 star ESF standard. Esprit only off a full day ski school in this hotel up to Intermediate level. They say we can only book for the whole week and not for 2-3 full days and maybe another 1-2 mornings as we ideally would like.

As we have never stayed with Esprit before - would appreciate advice of someone with experience. Would it generally be possible to negotiate to book just 3 days once we are in resort? Would intermediate be an ok level for the 12 year olds? Would the majority of kids be a lot younger? Is the whole experience geared towards younger ages and the 12 year olds would feel babied?

Our other option is to book directly with local ski school but they only offer two and half hours of group lessons, which means the we, parents, will not be able to ski too far before having to rush back..also considering getting private instructors for all four kids but we would need two separate instructors as 9 year olds are a lot slower and 12 year olds would not want to ski with them.

So looking for some help with dilemma how to keep the older kids happy and to have a mix of kids free and family ski time?

@Bella2015, from when using them you take their offering or not at all, as it were, from the lessons perspective. However once out there if you kids want a day off or an afternoon out with you, that is not an issue (but obviously you have to pay forball days). Of course you get the same with most ski schools unless booking private and then the rates are so much higher you will end up paying more.

Exact ages - can Esprut not tell you ages of others booked (as in numbers of each age) if you phone an ask? I am sure I got that from them the once?

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

@NickyJ, thank you. Haven’t thought about calling them and asking the other kids ages.. in terms of cost 3 days of two private instructors for four kids is actually working similar price as Esprit full week ski school

@Bella2015, It depends on the instructor. Mixed ability groups at that age are relatively easy to manage, you just give them different drills. Same would happen with your private instructor. In our (dated) Esprit experiences the upper end groups tended to be all in the same age bracket with a younger sibling and had a great time. Worth noting its as much about being with other kids and away from Mum and Dad that makes it fun for them.

@RedandWhiteFlachau, thank you. When you say at the same age bracket - what ages do you mean?
