Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

1st Solo Snowboard trip to Val D’isere Jan/Feb

 Poster: A snowHead

Hi guys.

Planning my first solo snowboard trip to Val D’ísere End January/Beginning February as none of my friends really board or ski anymore.

Any tips, as never done a solo trip before?
Best way to do it stay in a chalet or air BnB?
Places or groups to find other solo riders?
Etc…

Thanks

@w31ney, i am doing a solo trip to the 3valleys over Christmas week, first truly solo trip as i am not meeting up with anyone out there, am quite happy to ski on my own and in my own company for the week.

I have done a couple of solo trips before years ago, but was visiting friends who were still seasonaires (who i had worked with out there before) at the time, so could socialise/ski with others if I chose.

I will be staying in a self catering apartment, so happy to have a beer and a pizza etc indoors or having a few apres beers watching sports in bars.

if you are intending to have others to board/socialise with, a chalet holiday would probably suit you, though you may have to pay a single supplement.
other than that, if you have facebook, look out for various facebook groups for Val D, there may be links for solos etc?

@w31ney, welcome to snowheads. If you woud like company and are not fixated on Val d'Isere then you could consider the Snowheads birthday bash?

or the warm-up week, if places become available

@terrygasson Thanks for that. Didn't know at the single supplement which I am just starting to see in the prices. May look more in to Air BnB.

@NBT Cheers for the heads up. I'll have a look in to this tonight
