Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Valloire for snowboarders

 Poster: A snowHead
Poster: A snowHead
Hi, I'm looking at potentially heading to Valloire next year with a mixed group of skiers and snowboarders.

I've seen reviews mentioning drag lifts but others referring to updating the lift system... and I've looked at the piste map... but I'm still confused!

Can anyone tell me how good/ bad this area is for snowboarders please? Are there lots of drag lifts? Lots of flat areas? Will my snowboarding chums hate me if we go there??! Puzzled

Thanks so much!! Madeye-Smiley

nope, only drag lift really is the one just after the link from Valmeinier, but that can easily be avoided anyway, as you would back hading back to Vallorie if you ventured to Valmeinier side. Fine for boarding, can only think of 2x problematic areas. The ski road down at the tunnel (can be poor snow so everyone bunches up) & Selles blue that has an incline that can catch a border out as they run of piste width if they dont start the approach nearer to the left of the piste than from the centre! The only other drag is for access to a black & red, so can easily be skipped (accessible from the selles blue funnily enough)

As @Gored, says, it should be ok for boarders (but I don't board). The Grand Plateau drag is not essential, it is long and steep mind and gives access to some nice slopes. The Neuvache (I think) blue is very flat for boarders but you can route around it in Valmeinier and take the Armera chair back to Valloire.

Apart from that, all chairs but the 6 man chairs with moving carpets pose problems for some boarders.
