Probably correct. Cat 4 today and top lifts shut to wind.
Chance of running a safe contest must be small...
Maybe switch to Gele. Even then it appears improbable given small weather window.

It’s running tomorrow morning. They’re worried about instability so are bombing the poo-poo out if the face

What a shame....for such a long time we were looking at the Bec thinking there will be no viable way to ski that, nowhere near enough snow....but now too much!

Well that's annoying because I left at the w/e.
Something Haggis Trap mentioned, the traverse into Vallon d'Arbi. Got to agree, as you leave the Col de Mines/Vallon split and come round the corner, to the left, when I look up above me there it does not give me a good feeling.
Saw a guy coming down the direct route, which made me twitchy just watching.
In other news (to me) they've changed the ending so instead of having to take your skis off and skuttle across the road, you now head slightly left and join the bottom of the piste, which I thought was a great improvement.

Coming up from La Chable, if you only have a Savolyes day pass, can you carry on up to Ruinettes, and then ski across to Carrefour to then get the bus to the the Savoyles lift ? Or do you have to get off in Verbier

@Thunderer21, You would have to get off as the exit at Ruinettes is gated for the Le Chable lift, and if you need to change lifts in Medran (because they sometimes only run one lift Medran to Ruinettes when it's quiet) that one is gated too.

@Nickski Just interested, do you mean the section that's in the lower centre of the photo' below?
The square, flat building in the upper centre is the summit of the Tortin«»Chassoure télécabine, above Lac des Vaux. The narrow Lac des Vaux » Col des Mines traverse is in the shade in the centre of the photo'.

@LaForet, so when you’ve completed the ‘toboggan’ traverse, and end up behind the lower, middle peak (as viewed in pic.) if you do the next bit of Vallon D., skier’s right/heading to left as viewed looking at photo, and you come around the shoulder of the hill, going round to skier’s left, just before starting the descent proper. When I look up, after coming round the shoulder and before starting the descent, that looks very avalancheable to me. So more or less the opposite side of the lower ridge on the bottom left is above you.
So if you're just off somewhere snowy come back and post a snow report of your own and we'll all love you very much

Nice pic. btw Where is that taken from??

@Nickski Thanks - it's taken from the Savoleyres station above La Tzoumaz, from a distance of about 3 kms. One of those post-storm days when the air is crystal clear and the sky a brilliant blue. Fortunately, I took my big DSLR camera with a telephoto lens that day (Canon EoS 5D Mk.III + Canon EF I IS II 100-400mm f4.5-f5.6 zoom lens @117mm focal length) - the original RAW file is 3x higher resolution than the JPG version on imgur above, and the air was so exceptionally clear that even at 4x magnification, the detail from the RAW version is still good. That, and the image stabilisation of the Canon 100-400 zoom lens which meant I could take the shot hand-held from that distance with no image shake.
After a number of days skiing and snowshoeing we were a bit tired and so we decided to go on foot from La Tzoumaz to Attelas on a photo' excursion, hence fortuitously having 3½ kgs of camera equipment on me. It was actually a great day out, as we seemed almost to be in a parallel universe to all the skiers/snowboarders lugging their stuff on and off the gondolas and rushing away as soon as they could. We spent much more time at the stations, walking 'round and taking photos from positions we don't usually use when we've got skis on. Then had a nice lunch in a café in Verbier that wasn't mega-pricey. I'd encourage anyone around for more than the usual week to consider an excursion on foot as a nice break.

It seems today was a good day on the Lac des Vaux ridge. The squealer getting rowdy in La Chaux
Fantastic day in Verbier on Saturday, skied laps of fresh light snow above Lac des Vaux all morning and then ticked Rock and Roll in the afternoon. Hope Sunday lived up to expectations!

Slushy at the very bottom...but it is April after all.

@BobinCH, I was chatting to Pete about that route on our L1 off piste course. It's on my list of routes when I'm more experienced, and I'm also in Engelberg from the 15th for the L3 tech, so I'm not about.
I'll mention it to a couple of the guys from the course who are ES instructors (dont know if you know any of that crew?), as they've already got their L3 tech in the bag, so will be around the area then.

I noticed yesterday after skiing that the canting screw on the inside of my right boot had come out and was lost. Dropped a message to @CEM (that's where I bought the boots) and he recommended Anja.
Went in this morning, she didn't have a head part, but had a spare that she fitted in a couple of minutes, and didn't even charge!
Amazing service. Spoke to a couple of mates that teach out here, and they both said she's the go to person!

K2 Minbender 99Ti 184 - powerful and quite stiff. Just smashed out a plan de Fou lap. Now on the bright orange Black Crow Mirus Cor 178 for some slalom turns

@BobinCH, pretty different to those big fat skis you were carrying around earlier!!
They had the same stalls in Siviez yesterday when I skied through.

@BobinCH, did you buy them? We tried the Mindbenders back to back with the Movement GO 98s and were very unimpressed with the K2s (seemed rather dead, I mean, perfectly skiable but no great fun at all).

About 20mm too narrow to get on my buy list. I did like them though. Fast, furious and stable with the metal inside. The Mirus Cor were good fun too for shorter turns although felt like I was on kids skis!
And these bad boy Head GS skis were also a riot although had to work the legs like crazy to keep them under control on the high speed slush shred

In case anyone is wondering (amidst all this gear porn!) the pistes are in near perfect condition across the whole system except for proper slush at the very bottom of the home runs.

Fischer day today. Ranger 108 Ti in 185 smashed through the slush like a knife through butter. Nice feeling ski - the ski shop guy says it’s fab in powder.
Than the Curv in 178. Don’t get in the backseat on these bad boys. Amazing kick out of the turns!
Millsy tried the Salomon Addict Pro in 163 and loved them on the top firmer part of the piste. Not so good in the slush at the bottom

@rungsp, i'm on a training week with Rob from Warren Smith this week, so needless to say, we didn't pack it in! As we finished at 3, the sun came out, so us trainees went for another lap up funispace and through the bumps in Lac des Vaux. They were great with a bit of fresh powder on them and the ability to see them too!
