Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Which Volkl skis to buy?

 Poster: A snowHead
Poster: A snowHead
I have a choice of buying a set of used Volkl skis, either the Supersport 6 star or the RTM81, both sets seem in good condition and have not been used a lot.
I am an intermediate skier looking for an all mountain model but not concerned about going off piste, I can't afford new hence the need to go second hand.
Could anyone out there help me to make a choice on which would be best?

@Pete T, appreciate that you can't afford new, but bear in mind the age of these skis..... the supersport 6* was around 15-20 years ago and the RTM similar (unless these are some modern reincarnation) so unless they are incredibly cheap i would possible hang out for something slightly more up to date

The RTM 81 is the model from 2017, does this make a difference?

How about something like this? Not a fancy brand but half of France skis on similar kit and brand new.

@Pete T, RTM 81 is a good all round ski. I had a pair dating from ~2012 until last year, which I used for probably 60% piste and the rest off piste. Now replaced with Völkl Kendo

@Pete T, Is there any reason you're looking to buy and not hire?

Supersport as stated is about a 20 year old ski. RTM is probably better by being newer but seriously hang about on here and there will be far better skis to be had within your budget before next season. If you are going to western Canada you might want something wider and real all mountainy given the amount of ungroomed terrain.

Thanks Dave, I'm brand new to this site, but do I take it skis are sold here as well, and if so where do I find them?

Many thanks Riccardo, I definitely like the look of the Rossignol set and they seem perfect for what I am looking for, all I have to do now is to convince "senior management" they are a bargain and a higher priority than a kitchen replacement. Wish me luck!

In the sub forum below this one. To be fair there aren't a lot of skis up this time of year but likely to be a lot mor ecome Sept/oct as people decide to buy new kit

As your attorney please allow me to suggest (a) you remind Senior Management that quality skis are a safety issue which is easily solved with scant capital, and (b) that you do so right after they suggest an expensive idea on the kitchen remodel scope.

Them: Hmm, sure love that SubZero refrigerator!
You: It is nice, though if we get the Electrolux, with the savings we could also buy my skis and put a kid through college. What do you think we should do?
