Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

needing new boots

OK so the time has come that I probably need to replace my boots. Currently they are gen 1 Atomic Hawx, 100mm last width.
A bit of a walk feature should make the ridge hiking and uphill slogs less of a chore so at this stage, I'm considering (alphabetically) Atomic Prime XTD, Lange XT, Technica Cochise.

Any thoughts?

Do you have access to a decent Bootfitter? If so, they will be best placed to put you in something suitable - as they have direct access to your feet. Toofy Grin

Typo now corrected. Having 4 feet would make a good Bootfitter even more critical. Skullie

Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

@Old Fartbag, yep, I've tried all three on for general fit, and they all seem to work, but would need fitting. I'm more thinking about how well they ski and perform, any niggles etc?

@Bob, i currently ski in the prime XTD, skis great, walk functionality is as good as on any of that type of boot... the lange is a little heavier, they describe it as a skiers boot that you can hike in, the new cochise is the only one of the three i haven't skied as it wasn't available in my size at the test in january, but speaking to those who did they report it as "very similar" in performance to the others

so i wouldn't be too worried whatever one you ended up in
