Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

After a bumper 20/21 season what does 21/22 have in store? Will the weather gods play ball for a Saturday 30th October opening day? Who’s coming to visit?

The big news in town is the opening of a new high speed 10 person gondola from Medran to Ruinettes which should dramatically speed up access to the mountain during the busy peak weeks
They have also completely renewed the snow making system from Lac de Vaux to Ruinettes which should hopefully facilitate early weekend opening and less pain for the rock skis

I would guess 7 day opening from Saturday 3rd Dec. Look towards the bottom of this post to see what was open that weekend last year. Mont Fort was a week later. But all snow conditions dependent.

Anyone on the ground know when Tracouet is opening (Nendaz)?
Their redesigned website is atrocious, and looks to be being deliberately cagey as to anything about the winter at present!

I think they were quite late last season, around mid-December. It will be snow dependent so you won’t get a reliable answer until a couple of days before they decide to open. Usually opens from Siviez earlier at weekends

Yes, Thanks. We've skied the week before Christmas for the last 12 years from our apartment by the gondola.
Last couple of years, they've taken to not opening Tracouet till the end of that week, irrespective of snow cover, which is, frankly, a pain!
Planning on going out on 16th this year, so rather hoping it will be open 18th on, but would be nice to get some concrete info.

Thanks @BobinCH. Heading out to Veysonnaz* on 18 Dec for a year-long delayed 5 days of freeride with my 15yo (having cancelled literally 8 trips since we got back from the 3Vs at HT 2020). Keep the updates coming please!

* For those following me on other threads, the Swiss approach for <16s means I'm not likely to try to Irish second jab gambit unless it looks like HT 2022 looks sketchy.

@BobinCH, Is it just going to be the Lake area or will it be the Ruinettes too ?
Incidentally it has been snowing here at 1250m on and off, but not settling today.

I would guess down to Ruinettes as the temps are low and the piste has been smoothed out (after the new snow machine water lines went in) so less cover required.

Pleased to say Nendaz have published opening 18/12 for Tracouet as I hoped!
Assume the Veysonnaz link the same, but still showing as "depending on snow conditions"

Saturday afternoon in LdV. We skied after lunch and the sun popped it’s head out later

http://youtube.com/v/o8FJsr1SvuM

It was similar on Sunday with a bit of sun at the end of the day. I toured up from Ruinettes last thing but wouldn’t recommend skiing down yet as the cover is very thin. That’s the top which is ok but it’s worse below Carlsberg

I'm trying to work out if it's worth a trip up from Geneva this weekend. It doesn't look like any new snow between now and then, but I'm not sure if there's been any already this week. Is it likely just to be the Lac des Vaux piste open again or is there a chance for something else?

Any soothsayers think they can predict how this season is going to go with restrictions? Thinking of a few days second week in Jan. I know there's a vote on coronapasses etc, my main worry is the low vaccination rate in Switzerland might lead to lockdowns.

I assume because they didn't close last season they surely will not close this season?

Also, and I'm sorry if this has been asked already, but are EU corona functional there and scannable to get into restaurants etc?
