Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

We are in Andermatt for the weekend and contemplating doing the tour from Realp up Wittenwasseren over the Leckipass and back into Realp again as a day hit. Any insight into conditions including skiabiluty and snow cover on the glacier much appreciated!

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

@schauspiele, ...we tour further down the Rhone valley and whilst I do not have local beta I would draw attention to the unusual levels of instability this year due to the wind scoured November layer way down in the pack. We have seen slides in places which we regard as safe, often affected by long slides originating high above routes - these have then hit lower standard routes. These were in particular evidence around Mt Noble (Val D'Herens) about 6 days' ago. I would seek local guidance eg https://www.andermatt-guides.ch/en - they have an instagram channel with latest.

Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

@ed123, as in the posted links, the Gemstock is open, everything else is closed. Pistes had great cover over the weekend, slushy but so quiet as to not get too cut up. Off piste very very sticky by around 11am!

@valais2, thanks! Yes we saw the aftermath of some big slides. We ended up cutting out the Leckipass bit and just heading back the way we'd come up, were still pretty careful with our spacing etc. Hope you get to enjoy the end of the season in safety where you are.
