Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Off piste?

Jesus! I wonder who makes them? Maybe binding afficionados can work out who supplied them and that might clue us in? As an aside, people do buy this stuff. I was once in Hermes whilst my wife looked at purses I wasn't going to buy for her and a man came in and bought a £40,000 sofa and a £9000 stool as casually as I would buy Aldi brand sliced bread!

I don’t know if they are beautiful but I bet the packaging is

“ Your purchases are delivered in an orange box tied with a Bolduc ribbon, with the exception of fragrances, makeup and beauty products, books, certain equestrian and bulky items.
During checkout, you can include a card with a personalized message and a priceless invoice.”

I defy anyone to open the 'Product Details' drop down and not be seriously impressed! Laughing

They have “Made in the French Alps” printed in the middle, and that appears to be a Look binding, so I'd guess they've come from Rossignol Group, and are therefore probably a Dynastar women's piste ski. Could be the Elite 9.

They're 67.7 inches long, which means nothing to me or probably anyone else who buys proper skis, except that there's normally more than one length available!

My favourite bit is: "Shovel: slightly raised to avoid sinking into the snow,"

Mind. Blown. I think soon every manufacturer is going to be doing that!

So here they are, Doug Coombs Coombacks - a homage to the legend that was Doug Coombs, if you don't know who he was, then Google is your friend.

Over the years (1997 1st trip) I've spent a fair amount of time in LG and have stayed/skied in the villages that are on the skis.

I hardly ever use them, though they did get an outing this season, but I'll never get rid of them.

Cool you can get a Delicate Arch with a winter frosting pair. Complete with La Sal mountains in the background.

Very nice. I like the asymmetry of the skis next to the board best (second left, top image) are they top sheet of the wood structural in them all ?

Just topsheets - apart from the wood core, they were pretty conventional wood/carbon/fibreglass composites.

Last January I had booked Stockli skis at a rental shop but they ran out and gave me a pair of Lacroix skis instead. By God they were beautiful looking, but I hated them as I felt like a complete w&nker and thought everyone was looking at me on every lift. They skiid well, though.

110% : The La Grave Coombacks are definite contender. Especially when you start looking at the detail / time line (much prettier than the Jackson Hole or Alaska variant)

I had the original Coomba with 90s K2 logo. Absolutely loved those skis. First ski > 100mm I owned. However there is definite anecdotal evidence those ones are jinxed. I got avalanched on mine. A friend accidentally kicked one off a cliff at 4000m and had to ski 13km home on 1 ski. Lots of other stories...

Skiing is a sport/pastime that has an incredibly disproportionate number of extremely attractive and personable ladies involved in it at every level. I've often wondered why that is. Maybe there's a reason, or maybe I just notice them more. But even amongst the throngs of loveliness, some stand out:

I apologise to the OP if, in a rare Confused moment of weakness and misjudgement, I’ve steered into politically incorrect waters. That’s covered that base.

Yeah, you’re right @greengriff.

The kind of person that will be offended by that will never accept your apology anyway, so don't waste your breath. snowHead But we are supposed to be talking about beautiful skis, not beautiful skiers! That would be a thread all of its own. Laughing

What about these? Made by a guy in Vernon, BC. They are Skevik Antons. I'm a birder so I had to have 'em. I don't love how they ski, to be honest.
