Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Hello, solo gal with no idea what she’s doing!

Hi all, I’m totally new round here! Single 37F with no kids, skied on school trips as a teenager but never since. Was surprisingly very good at it. Loved it. Friends/family have no interest in skiing but I’d absolutely love to do it again as soon as possible.

Was recommended this forum by a kind stranger on Reddit, but I’ve no idea what I’m doing.

I’d love to know if there’s anyone else out there in a similar boat that’s perhaps organising a trip, or anyone who would like to organise a trip, I don’t really know what I’m asking - I just want to ski, ski, ski and meet new people!

Thank you, SnowHeads!

Hi - I actually saw your Reddit post and it reminded me to come here! I have a Tirol snow card and a 4x4 campervan with all my stuff in it that I keep in Salzburg. I would be happy to split the cost of a hotel room in a hotel where I can park and take advantage of the food and spa but would then sleep in my van. Probably 70/30 split would be fair. Tirol resorts only (there are 90 of them) - any time in March. Very flexible.

Hi Eh oh! Eh oh!

I’m not really doing what you want (organising a trip or looking for people to ski with). But I just thought you might be interested to hear about my last few years. I’m 45 now and not single but my boyfriend doesn’t ski and has no interest in going to the mountains. I’d been skiing a fair few times in my early 20’s but then not been for over 15 years when I decided I wanted to try it again in 2020. I went on a solo 4 day trip to the SkiWelt in Austria and absolutely LOVED it!!! I got home less than a month before lockdown. I missed 2021 obviously but then from 2022 onwards I’ve done a short solo trip every year. I know that’s not for everyone but I love the freedom of being on my own.

I just DIY it - book cheap flights and then figure out exactly where I want to go and book accommodation on somewhere like Booking.com. Having said that, it does look like some of the ski travel companies are starting to do short, mid week trips now so I think they might be worth looking at.

Have fun planning!!

Take a look at Solo Skiers v Groups - Organising Trips...this is where people looking for skibuddies put their posts.

Also snowEvents - those marked A, near the top of the list are the current season trips still available. The End of Season Bash 2026 might be interesting for you.
Also the thread marked S - A Guide to snowHeads Bashes for the uncertain snowHead...useful and honest introduction to what the Bashes are like.

Thank you! I’ve been recommended the EOSB which looks amazing, but can newcomers come to this? The whole thing seems right up my street!

@HeadLikeAFknOrange, yes newcomers can go to the EoSB, it's brilliant. In April you'd need high factor sunscreen, or you'd end up HeadLikeAFknBloodOrange.

Also, is there somewhere I can chat to other EOSB first timers? I’ve looked through as many of the posts I can, including the links above (very helpful, thank you) but I’m not well versed in forums at all!

The bus from Geneva airport? wink

Seriously, though. If you've got any questions pop them on the EoSB thread. There's usually plenty of folk happy to give helpful (or amusing Toofy Grin ) answers.

The EoSB is great. This will be my 5th.

@HeadLikeAFknOrange, Go on a bash. Just put yourself out there, be yourself. You'll love it. They/we are just normal folk that love to ski/board, talk shite, eat, drink and have fun to any and all degrees.
I've only been on one but it was cool and I honestly think it;s a great way to go sliding and have ffun.

@HeadLikeAFknOrange,
Despite appearances, we are all relatively normal, friendly people Very Happy Very Happy
The EOSB is a great bash for a first time basher.
You book your place by clicking the appropriate buttons on page 1
I think all of the solo occupancy rooms have gone so you can save some dosh by being willing to share a room with another person of the same gender (be sure that admin knows what this is) you will be allocated a bed in a typically 4 bedroom / 8 person self catering apartment.
Don't be afraid to shout up & ask people if you can go skiing with them (if you want to ski with others)
It's a bit of a leap of faith to send money to some random bloke on the internet but there's a lot of us that have been subjected to a fabulous trip having done so Very Happy Very Happy Very Happy

@tangowaggon, thank you! I’m definitely going to look during the week and see if I can get the time off.

Is there somewhere I can see what’s included, e.g. lift passes and so on? And is there somewhere I can see about equipment rental and how this works if I book on?

Sorry for all the questions!

@HeadLikeAFknOrange, all the information about what is included is in the first post of the EoSB thread. There's an equipment rental shop in the Oxalys that normally offers a good deal to Snowheads.

Have a read of the EoSB26 thread, which you will find in the snowEvents forum. There is a ton of information in it and, towards the end of the thread, you'll find someone trying to offload a single room booking.

Equipment Hire: I normally arrange very preferential rates locally for the whole group.

Still very much finding my way around here!

2025 End of Season Bash

A leisurely scroll through the 2025 thread will also reveal some of the questions others have asked, along with some answers.

One thing that may not be mentioned could clinch the deal.
You would be given, free of charge, a snowHeads neck buff. When worn around the mountains and bars, you will not only impress everyone without one, but will also be readily spotted by fellow snowHeads. Sometimes it even gets you a discount in kit rental shops, bars and possibly massage parlours.

If this isn’t enough, although the colour varies, on some Bashes it even matches your FknsnowHeads name.

Happy browsing.
