 Poster: A snowHead

Good Morning!
Somewhat unrelated to but during my powder ski search, I stumbled on a pair 2022 Black Crows Atris in 184 in a local shop for such a low price(!!) I had to take it home, real beauties!
Inevitably, I am now contemplating where to mout them. They are Gen2 afaik, so the 2nd iteration (?) 108mm versions. The current flavor is narrower and more all-mtn.
I am tall-ish (187cm), bit that's all torso, and just over 80kg+kit+pack. I have a history of feeling "going over the bars" in skis, sorted much of this by flattening delta. I ride Tecnica ZGTP (latest model) and Marker Alpinists for the low delta. On some skis as-is, on some with a 2mm heel shim.
I liked a 181 older purple QST 106 at recommended around -9
184 Wailer 99s at +.5 from rec.
Serpo at recommended, -8
TX94 touring skis back 1.3cms to effectively -10ish, felt awkward at rec.
hated WNDR vital 98 at rec/-6,7
I do like to drive the front of my boots a bit. And unfortunately, i can tell very small differences in mount point, delta etc, really annoying. Call it terrible adaptability.
So, do I mount the Atris at recommended/-8 or a bit back? I ski pretty one-direcionally but appreciate a maneuvable ski, but would prioritize float an stability if the loss in reactivity isn't big. Will probably ski them when there is some soft snow to be found @ Arlberg and may even take them to Lyngen for days up to 1500m vertical. Anyone tinkered with th mounting point on these?
Thank you!

@danbre2022, good skis. Coincidentally I have the same skis (in 2021 graphics), same length, same boots and am 1cm taller/ 2kg heavier than you. I’m totally happy with them mounted on factory recommended point.
As an aside, I found the ZGTPs needed beefier liners than the stock ones to drive the Atris, but of course ymmv.

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

Thanks! I use thicker/denser liners han stock, also from Palau but better/more reactive and nicer to m shins. The HV somethings in black/yellow.
Anyone else?

I guess the mounting line will depend on skiing style, if you are in more directional favor, then recommended should be good enough, in recent gear review from Nikolai Schirmer recommends them +1.5 for more playful feel, ie to throw them sidewise occasionally, which suggests to me that recommended mounting point is directional enough.

Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.

Good point, he even pretty much my size (and 10 times more skier). That said, he is on the 190 length- so quite a bit of ski in front of the boots left, even at +1.5

recommended is always....."recommended." if after, they don't feel balanced tip to tail, this can be adjusted most simply and consistently in the boots. any variable mounting point has too many variables to be accurate.

I theoretically agree and have had some success doing such modifications. But, both delta and ramp are already really flat in my case, and getting rid of boot lean is tricky on mine- so not many variables at hand to position me more upright/aft or whatever. In the other direction nit much leeway either, more than a 2mm or so of heel lifts will let my heel spurs collide with the shell, and the forward lean is already maxing out what I tolerate . Will still go with recommended or maybe a few mms back, which is then the claimed -8 (BC rec. point is not -8 from tip to tail beeline midpoint). After all, barely any empirical evidence for an aft mounting point on that ski...

so, quick follow-up.
first mout at -0.5 (which is actually just a hair more aft than the claimed -8cms point), bit of a planky feel with vague tips, stuttery edging and such. remounted 13mms forward, took me one run to adjust- now turns of all shapes feel smooth and predictable, and turn initiation is intuitive. Also carves much better, and tip support still adaequate. Much like my Serpo at recommended feels. Will have to see how this setting floats in powder, which is bit af a rarity this season in Vorarlberg.
I find the ski a bit okay-ish or overrated, but hey, it was rather cheap and looks nice.
