Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Latest on Vonn is she got out of her ski boots, put a ski suit on and then was airlifted to a hospital for assessment

“She has some pain so it’s better to have some checks, the physio did some checks they seemed OK but there were things he was not 100% sure so it was good to have it checked [at the hospital],” two-time Olympic champion Aksel Lund Svindal, Vonn‘s coach this season, told Reuters

Horrible watch when her helmet went down the slope on its own. The TNT commentary team and others watching from the bottom eg the race leader, were overtly affected.

On an iPad (not sure if that’s relevant) I use successfully free Proton VPN, which appears to allow selection from any country. Its competitors, some allegedly highly rated such as Nord, either seemed unworkable or were going to cost.

If you only use a VPN for watching skiing and you don't use the same device for anything vaguely important while you do so then you can ignore the following public information post Happy

The primary purpose of an internet VPN is to increase your security. This predicated on you trusting your VPN provider more than the network provider in the location you currently are using the VPN. If that's NordVPN [other paid VPN services are available] when you are on the free and unsecured wifi in an alpine hotel, that may well be the case. If you are at home with your paid ISP and you are using a free VPN service, it might not be.

The old marketing adage that "if you pay for it, you buy the product; if you get it free, you are the product" applies. Therefore, it's wise to ask yourself "how is this provider making money out of a service that they are giving me for free?"

We now return you to your scheduled snow sports viewing.

PS. I don't know anything Proton VPN nor do I have any reason to suspect that they aren't 100% above board.
PPS. No jokes about admin making a fortune out of SH.

Glad Crans did get their mens race away at least after the debacle the previous day. Would have been a disaster had nothing been run that weekend and not a great "rehersal" for next years world championships there.

I see ICE will not be at the Superbowl but will still be at the Olympics on foreign soil?

I don't have any memory of the mens Crans DH race last year, so I'd assumed it was a new race this year. I obviously just didn't watch last years. Anyway, I really liked the track, quite a lot going on, not extreme like your Kitz, Wengens etc, but I still thought it was a good one to watch.

i see the mixed doubles curling is on TNT tonight, GB facing Norway.

for some reason the sport mesmerises me, i tend to watch this sport more than any other, since GB women won in 2002, when the winter Olympics is on

@ster, I suspect it was deliberate to prevent the competition from replicating it, with a fall back plan to just use the previous one. The headline of "Team GB’s best chance of Winter Olympics gold dealt major blow after helmets ban" seems overblown: "minor blow" might be more realistic.

Let's see how the CAS appeal goes.

@ster, the people ICE wants to kill I mean is concerned about can't afford to attend the Super Bowl. As for them being at the Olympics, the reasons they cite are (my translation): blah blah blah. (You can pay me later Smile)

Here's hoping for fair weather and snow in Cortina & Bormio. The latter may provide some action; it's a brute and there will be some skiers that will be over their heads. My money's on Dom Paris but RCS looks like a good dark horse.

I sure hope CBC (Canadian TV) has Brian Stemmle doing the ski stuff, he's a breath of fresh air.

Word on the ground is that the big air jump and the slopestyle jumps have had to be reduced in size for safety issues. Ed Leigh reportedly describing the big air as now Medium air. So the bigger number spins will be out, and technical precision in.

Paraffin is also a pretty powerful laxative, and a slow shutter speed is probably not what you want sitting on the plank at the top of a 140+m ski jump thinking about.

Was quite amused to hear that Tim Warwood, Ed Leigh and Jenny Jones are holed up in a self-catering apartment in Milano Cortina while other reporting crews are in hotels, mainly so they can save on the budget.
