Really enjoyed that Paddy catch up, and how the chat with Iain flowed.
Great to shine a light on someone less celebrated outside of the sport, but all those years with Red Bull tell you all you need to know.
Talented, motivated - maybe our version of Mike Douglas, making him the Godfather of UK freeskiing...

My People once had a home they could call their own... where the snowboarders were free to roam unquestioned, the second-hand gear was plentiful and there wasn't a set of poles or Haglof onesie to be seen...

@iainm, in 224 you mentioned a survey where there would be a link in the notes? In the notes I see I couldn’t see any link.
In any case you might profit from posting it directly here, hopefully its well crafted and will make a change from all the student surveys on the latest and greatest ski product project they are working on.

@iainm, just a quick note to say that there's been some great content on the podcast recently. The interview with Chemmy Alcott was really interesting, I didn't know her backstory, wow what a woman (or maybe I should say person - whatever term is politically correct).
Also, the articles on equipment and clothing gave really useful explanations for a casual skier like myself.
thanks very much.

@iainm, you can tell Jamie Grant I bought Carv 2.0 based on your interview with him, that will get him some ROI on the interview. I hope I don’t win it in yr draw now.

| Episode 213 now live, featuring an interview with Stu Brass. Not so well known, but hugely influential in British snowsports. Founder of The Brits and worked as an advisor on 'Chalet Girl' and 'The Jump'. Very nice guy and an interesting chap to talk to ... |
Interesting. Didn't know he was from Clitheroe. The audio gets a bit marginal in places.

Started 2004 by "Stu, Spencer and [Dunx]". This is the the final sign-off in 2022. That includes stats like 14,243 unique members over the 17 years.
Dunx looks like he went into programming. Soul Sports was dissolved around the same time, although it looks like it'd been "on tick over" for a while by then.
...
I dug out a 1992 copy of Snowboard UK (issue #3) to see if SB was in it. I couldn't find him, but I note that the Burton Kelly Air was retailing at £479 in 1992, or £1,059 in today's money.
The equivalent board is about £500 full retail today. The Burton stuff in particular was brutally expensive in Europe (including in Finland, not in the EU at the time).

The Bladon Lines and Fiona Easdale episodes are some of the most interesting and engaging I have heard in the series.
The "How to become a Ski Patroller in France" episode with Tom Greenall (Idris here?) must be the best of the lot. I can't think I missed it the first time but thanks for resurrecting it, brilliant. What about a follow up?

@iainm, I listened to Al Morgan on your best 25/26 boot gear guide.
He seemed to say that you cannot get aftermarket elasticated Booster Straps anymore, and only can get the limited range supplied on the boot by OEMs.
I took a look at Booster Straps’ website (albeit US based) and they appear to be still around . And I think there are more aftermarket suppliers than just them, like Patriot Footbeds’ TruStraps.

Thank for that. I did think with some of those older ones that they probably had been missed by some listeners. Follow up could be possible.
Bladon Lines is undoubtedly the podcast I'm most proud of - so much time went into that!
re your query about ski boots, I'll check with Al on that the next time he's on.
We are over 270 episodes now, with the most recent being on 'St Johann in Tirol, Après Ski Fashion & Icebreaker City Skim'

@iainm, great recent episode about St Johan and I particularly enjoyed the section with Erin Isakov about fashion and apres, could have definitely done a deep dive on that (Erin was super interesting). May have that book she’s written as a crimbo present
Will be interesting to see what you have in store over coming episodes - I know you’re the “ski podcast” but you have ventured slightly into snowboarding in the past, any view to expanding that and particularly gear reviews?
