Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Most of it is being really, really pedantic about lubrication & not letting it get neglected. Like bicycles really.

Nice finish to the season with a skin / hike up to the mighty Bec des Rossses

The day started with skins from La Chaux as Mont Fort sector now closed for the season

After some high freezing levels and warm days hard to tell what co ditions we would find…

Good skiing conditions up to Col de la Chaux and across the approach ridge. Then switched to boot pack mode for the steep ascent to the summit

Alpine vibes

Replacement of the Savoleyres bubble by a fancy new lift connecting Carrefour with Savoleyres. It’s been blocked in the courts for years by a wealthy Genevoise but is finally happening for 26/27 season. Will massively improve access to the Savoleyres / La Tzoumaz side

Verbier<->Savoleyres (La Tzoumaz Sector) Phase-1

A new 10-person gondola from the NW side of Verbier at Planards, up to the Savoleyres summit above La Tzoumaz. Phase-2 extends this eastwards towards as a gondola/chair combimix. This will then replace the very old gondola up from the W side of Verbier (by the Chalet d’Adrien) up to Savoleyres.

Hoping for some local knowledge please all snowHead

I'm planning on being in the area for an exam 21-28 Mar 26 and currently have a B&B in Le Châble booked. Mrs Swskier is talking about coming and working remotely there for the week, along with the dog. I've found a reasonably price apartment (aka the cheapest one available) in Verbier on Rue de la Bérarde. The issue and it's quite an important one is, there's no wifi in the apartment!

On a holiday in Tignes once we were able to rent wifi box thingys from the rental agency. Is that a thing in Verbier?'

Alternatively, best places to find accommodation? I might be a bit early yet, but i've checked Booking.com Airbnb, Vrbo, Interhome. Is there a central booking via the tourist office? If there is i'm not doing a very good job of finding it online.

Are you looking for both of you to be co-located in Verbier after you’re on your own in Le Chable? Or one of you in Le Chable and the other in Verbier? I ask because if it’s the former you might consider Nendaz or La Tzoumaz as a much cheaper alternative. But you’d have to add 30-40 minutes extra transit time to get to the upper reaches of Verbier.

Also, had you considered contacting the Verbier Office de Tourisme?

@swskier, there is 5G coverage in Verbier, that should be enough to do work with a data package from her UK network I think.

Nendaz or LA Tzoumaz would be a complete No if you are doing BASI exams, connections would be such an extra burden for an already pressured week.

@swskier, there is an apartment search function on the Verbier website. Alternatively there are 2 co-working spaces in Verbier for around 50chf per day or 180chf for a week

Thanks all for the help. I actually contacted the apartment in Le Châble I had for a month back in 2023 to see if they'd take us with the dog, as they're usually a non-pets apartment. They agreed to make an exception, so I've booked with them for the week and cancelled the single room B&B in Le Châble I had booked.

It's a slightly inconveniently placed apartment just up the hill from Le Châble on Chem. des Merlines, but if you have a vehicle it's no problem and we will be driving over from Austria. It's pretty reasonably priced, really spacious and works well for remote working, as I did some when I was there previously.

And as a bonus, the terrace area off the lounge gives some pretty spectacular views and sunsets

Current progress on the new Verbier-Savoleyres replacement lift (25 Aug 2025). The middle station will be operating winter 2025/26, and the base station (centre, in the wooded area) winter 2026/27. The extension of the Savoleyres station seems to be progressing, too.

In Nendaz now…random question: I’m surprised no one seems to be in glacier kit for the off piste runs from Mont Fort. Are they foolhardy or are the glaciers there low crevasse risk?
