Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Tignes or Val D'Isere for March and April Anyone up for it?

So my plan is to get out to the Espace Killy at the end of Feb and find (or possibly already having found) an apartment in Tignes (Val is too expensive although if something could be found in the right ball park pricewise I would prefer Val) for the remainder of the season, possibly even just myself for a month into the interseason as well. I'd like to try and find one, or maybe preferably two, others to join me to share an apartment for this time frame. I'm not on an excessively tight budget but I do want to keep a lid on anything too over the top, I'm there to ski not much else. A little about me, I'm a 56 year old man. I ran a business up until last year when we were forced to fold and the opportunity has arisen now when I have a window to do something I've promised myself I would do for a long time. I lived in Val D'Isere all year round from 1989 to 1995 so its safe to say I know the EK pretty well on and off-piste. Ever since my last season I have been waiting for the moment to go back and do at least a decent portion of a season and this is that moment for me (before I'm too decrepit to ski hard anymore, we'll see I guess!) I have a few contacts still in Val to possibly find a place in either Val or Tignes and I will be driving out there so there are other options that could work in an absolute pinch (Sainte-Foy, Villaret, La Savine/Gurraz, Tignes Brevierres/Bosse etc but I wont go any further down than Sainte-Foy too far to get up the hill every day) Thats probably all thats worth mentioning initially here, happy to proceed further once contact is made. Who's up for it?

@PowderEight73, I did the full 5 month season in the EK after I retired in 2018. (Pre Brexit so no 90 day nonsense.)
Good luck with making it happen. My thoughts about staying further down the hill and possibly having a lower outlay on accomm are that the costs of travel and parking will easily erode any savings.

Parking is one aspect that has changed drastically since your time in Val'd. No "free" parking anywhere. And all public parking contracted out to private contractors.
If you need any info once your chips start to fall into place, try posting on the Tignes or Val d' threads in the snow reports section.

Oh, and welcome to Snowheads.

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

Hey GeorgeVII thanks so much for the response, parking point duly noted, and thanks for the heads up with the Val/Tignes threads later on down the track, appreciated. Val certainly has changed out of all recognition since the early 90's, I wish I'd held onto my flat in La Daille it would have quadrupled in value. Sad

@PowderEight73
- I would be very interested in this as I had pretty much the identical plan (of spending all of March into first week of April) there with a week or 2 back in London so my kids dont forget who I am. I am 40M and work remote but work has been slow and is expected to be slow in March so want to take on this opportunity of spending longer than 10days a season on the slopes for once.

Wow.

Tignes has grown massively up on the mountain such that Val is now a better option.

But Wow. Now there's a thought.

Hi @PowderEight73: Would you be interested in people coming for one/two weeks rather than the whole month/six-week period?

Anyone remember this?
Great photo that @RickBoden Very Happy I remember it well and always think it should have been maintained/touched up in perpetuity. Anyone know if that was ever the plan?

Good luck with your part-season @PowderEight73.

@RickBoden, I too remember what it looked like just after being painted.

I was looking really closely this year and think I could just about make out some of the hair.
