Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

SW London

I suppose this fits better in the Snow Reports section than other places. Not a snow report as such, but roads (and pavements) this morning around me in the far reaches of SW London are the worst driving conditions I think I've ever experienced. We had quite a lot of rain over night which has subsequently frozen. Any road which wasn't gritted is like a skating rink, covered with glossy black ice. I've got a full set of winter tyres on my car, but the ABS was still kicking in, even at walking speed with most gentle of regen braking. Not known anything like it. It's a good thing that everything around her is fairly flat, as even gentle inclines would be impossible. Just walked a couple of blocks to drop off Jane's car at a local garage for its MOT, and every 10th step was sliding out from under me, despite doing the 'saisonnaire shuffle' (copyright: DotM).

@rob@rar, thanks for the warning. I live on a hill.

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

Very slippery in London today. Saw two pedestrians hit the deck on the same corner, one on the pavement one crossing the road with a scooter. I nearly slipped over walking my bike around a burst water main.

But the suns out and the temps should go up today. The rain tomorrow will take care of the rest.
