Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Snowboards on SNCF?

 Poster: A snowHead

Weird one - am looking at ways to get to Les Coches and have been considering the train, but have come across an article which could put a doubt on whether SNCF will allow you to take snowboards on board the tgv train...

Skis fine, snowboards under 145cm ok but an adult sized board 'cest imposible'
Told you... weird.

Anyone any direct experience?

@Richard_Sideways, we've been taking a set of skis and a snowboard on SNCF TGVs for the last few years with no issue. We're booked to do so again in March but have now noticed the issue that Dan is drawing attention to.

I should add that the "no issue" is partly as we pack both the skis and snowboard so that they fit on the train, usually in the overhead luggage rack. The skis go in a simple padded tube on their own; the snowboard goes in a padded bags containing just the board and boots arranged flat against it, so isn't much bigger than the skis to transport. I'm wondering if SNCF are trying (in a very ham fisted way) to stop people bringing "coffin" style bags into TGVs, which really don't fit and therefore cause issues.

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

Have decided to drive but two of our party are going via the train. I'll suggest that they may want to use smaller snowboard bags or maybe I'll take them in the car with our gear.
