Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

I'm about a quarter of the way through this video from Josh Duncan Smith. From what I've seen so far, you can really see a difference in body shape while skiing between the two of them, and turn shape, one which is designed to look nice and tick boxes, and one that is based purely on being as fast as possible.

Towards the end of the video, the young racer says as much ie. JDS finishes his turns for control, whereas he is always looking for speed rather than control.

Darren Turner, explaining "Inclination", in his usual, easy to understand way:

Have to say I’m not a fan of the Stomp It videos. I don’t rate him as a skier or as an instructor, but his easy presentation style seems to get plenty of views. I don’t watch a huge number of instructional videos, but Tom Gellie is always worthwhile both for his insights as an instructor and I like watching him ski. Darren Turner nails the basics in every video. But there are large numbers if YouTube videos which seem worthless to me, at best.

@rob@rar, I met Jens last autumn in Hintertux. A friend of mine from my L1 off piste course is his videographer since last season. His skiing in real life is a lot more impressive than in his videos I'd say. He had been filming his "ass to grass" carving video with Tom Gellie just before I met him, and his skiing that I saw was better than what he put out on YouTube. I actually said that in a comment on the video which he agreed with. He seemed to be a genuinely nice guy too, we actually barely talked skiing, but more about how it is to move to a new country and settle in, learn the language etc.

A video that came up on my feed the other week was from the perspective of a student actually, but filming a week of lessons on a group trip in Canada with a L4 ex Interski instructor. I thought it was interesting as you rarely see any videos that show a higher end ski lesson aimed at actual clients. I thought it was particularly interesting from an instructor side to see how other instructors are teaching.

@AndAnotherThing.., I've never been too impressed with the Maison Sport videos, there's one instructor in particular who I found pretty uninspiring with regards to their own skiing and the lesson they were giving in the video.

Paul Lorenz and Reilly Mc Glashan seem to be of a similar vintage and out of the same stable...all excellent skiers, but it's Tom Gellie who really gets stuck into every aspect of skiing, with a passion and a willingness to challenge accepted wisdom that is great to see.

Another carving video from Joshua Duncan-Smith. This time on 'Effortless Carving'. He certainly makes it look easy and less forced than the dynamic carving video. The focus seems to be on the importance of balance and timing in the transition. I quite like it.
