sorry for rubbing it in but I just got back from Chile skiing last week with 'dream ski adventures', amazing snow, sunny conditions most days, no ice and no slush as snow is very dry.
Skiied Valle Nevado, La Parva, Corralco (volcano), Termas de Chillan & did a Cat Ski day to finish me off...
Mainly off-piste everyday, can't wait till next Jan now...

buzz55, What's the cost of a weeks skiing with flights, accommodation, food and passes. Oh and how much is the beer, we must get our priorities right here , snow, mountains, beer.

I went with 'dream ski adventures' for 2 weeks (see his website for details, I went on Tour #2), the flight is £1k, the rest is £1.5k - so it's not cheap, but for me it was a one off experiance.
2 level 3 instructors included, mainly off-piste instruction at 5 different resorts all over Chile. (they both worked in Canada, Lake Louise and Sushine during our winter)
+ £100 ish for Cat ski day
+ approx £250 per week for meals out + drinks etc. the short's over there are like 1/3 pint glasses, so you get more value for your money.
Wine is cheap £4-£8 for a good bottle, a good meal+drinks were approx £8-£12, so in general I would say 30% cheaper than UK.
Beer - approx £1.50
The cost of food and drink varied depending on location, Santiago was like any major city more expensive (50%) than the country area/ski resorts.
The main downside for me was transfer time to ski every day, e.g. approx 2 hours to La Parva from Santiago... the roads over there to the resorts are not very good (only one route) and they have had a lot of snow this year. but saying that you'll find hotels / appartments at the ski resorts which you could stay at.

You know it makes sense.

p.s. passes were included in the tour, so no idea on that.

I have just booked a week in Valle Nevado - flight, full board in good hotel, lift pass £1600 - just got to pay for beer and pisco! Anyone else likely to be there from 9 September?

That's quite a good price - I would stay more than a week though as it's a long way to go for 1 week.
I would check out La Parva for a day, it's not far from Valle Nevado.

buzz55, Great photos - have been to Chile several times and stayed in La Parva. Did you get to ski the notorious "La Chimenea"? Hope to do it again next month. Will post pictures anon.

no, hotel Robledal about 20 mins away. the 2nd photo looks to be the same place as mine that I took,
'La Chimenea' they have had lot's of snow so it was fine.... also a good off-piste run we found was down past the thermals.
the 1st pic looks to be from the bottom through the trees (could be mistaken), then you can pickup the 2 man longest in s. america (nr. the restraunt) - that really old one with the half bar that you move across.

here's a pic of that area, the one on the right is supposed to be the longest lift in South America.... mega slow too, we nicknamed it the Fred Flintstone lift as it was sooooooo old.
