Has anyone tried Burton toe cap bindings yet?
Do they offer more control, or are they just a marketing ploy?

I've used them for a few weeks of boarding now, and I think that you can tell the difference - primarily on the comfort factor.
I think they can be tightened much more than a std toe strap without causing foot pain and cutting the circulation to your toes.
I wouldn't go back to conventional toe straps now.

ssnowman, If you already have Burton strap bindings, I was informed that you can change the front strap to the toe type. I am thinking of looking into this for my son, as they are meant to be much more comfortable and the boarders that I have spoken to really liked them and have had no probs.

I've used Flow bindings for 8 years now & I can't see myself going back to straps.
I was just womdering about them, as I've only seen one person using them on the slopes.

My ride SPI's have a convertible toe strap that can be used both as a conventional one and in the burton toe cap fashion.
I switched from the conventional method and was pleasantly surprised as it seemed to give better support and caused less pressure over my foot.
YMMV obviously.

Have tried the Burton straps and the Rome convertable ones. The Burton ones felt a bit sloppy with my boots, and often slipped off (they probably work much better with other boots, especially Burton boots). The Rome convertable ones on the other hand fit very nicely, so I ended up buying them. They're more comfortable than normal toe straps for sure, though I doubt there is any performance advantage at all. If you have normal toe straps that are comfortable with your boots, there is no reason to switch.

I believe it is a marketing ploy...
most suuport comes from the ankle strap anyway and if you choose boots and bindings that work well together then they shouldn't be uncomfortable.
I rode with normal burton straps for two years and never had any pain in my toes at all, my other half recently got the toe cap ones (they came as standard on the bindings) and spends alot more time fiddling with them than i do
i can't understand why burton put them on their high end range and not the entry level as it is beginers who benefit most from a binding that can't be cranked down too far...
...but, it's all down to personal taste and what you feal comfortable with at the end of the day.

You know it makes sense.

i can['t use them.
i tore a ligament in them, wether it would have happend anyway or it was the lack of suport from the binding i dont know
all i know is i wont risk it.

I believe that they are pretty comfy as bindings go but not worth going to the effort of changing to in most cases.
