Poster: A snowHead

I was wondering what other darkside 's verdicts are on snowboarder only chalets?
Know of any good ones? I've went with Snowboard Lodge a few years ago to St Foy which was great fun. I hear that they've now lost their edge somewhat due to over extending their business and losing the personal touch. Any chalet suggestions for Europe?

IMO as a bothsider, boarder only chalets aren't a great idea - there's a danger that you get lower standards because "boarders are more core" and theres a fair chance that some of your fellow guests will be caring more about the image than actually riding. Plus its just plain narrow minded.

Well, the person's real but it's just a made up name, see?

saxabar, snowangel's place in Serre Che is for boarders and skiers but is a test centre for boarders.

fatbob, I agree with your point about lower standards, although this hasn't been my experience in the past. I wonder if you've actually stayed in a boarder only chalet? Again, my experience is that there is a high level of a camaradery, boarders go out riding together, more tricks/technique are learnt, there's more to compare in the evening and that sort of thing. I certainly don't want to dredge up non-existent skier/boarder antagonisms but boarder only chalets do have a definite buzz to them. Maybe you've had a bad experience?
Helen Beaumont, snowangel's place sounds good, I may just drop her a pm, thanks.

I have stayed in a board specialist chalet before. The guys running it were a bit slack becuase we were all pretty competent and could do fundamental stuff like getting to the pass office without getting lost. Subsequently the owners were very apologetic about the standard of service & it was sorted out for future guests so no hard feelings from me but just a general impression that standards could slide. I think what you're really asking for is somewhere where a lot of boarders stay rather than one which explicitly bans skiers which would be commercially very unwise given mixed skier/boarder groups and the increasing numbers of younger skiers.
