Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Recommendation for winter room day touring base

 Poster: A snowHead
Poster: A snowHead
Hi All,

My ski touring is limited to February half term and the last couple of years have done winter room hut to hut tours which has been mega, away from the crowds, adventure. This year I'd still like to get up to an alpine winter room, but preferably somewhere we could base ourselves for day tours to try and lighten the bags and increase the quantity of quality skiing. Usually I've based my hut to huts on known tours, but finding info on huts to base ourselves seems much harder. We'll be heading out from Munich so Austrian/Swiss ideas would be best, but happy to head anywhere in the Alps (and hoping to have some contingency plans for avalanche and snow conditions).

So, any good recommendations for winter room bases? Or can you point me in the direction of a good place to research?

Cheers,

Paul

The Club Alpin Suisse has 153 Swiss mountain cabins: see https://www.sac-cas.ch/fr/cabanes-et-courses/les-cabanes-du-cas/

The Cabin du Mt.Fort in the Verbier ski area is one I'm familiar with: http://www.cabanemontfort.ch

And the Swiss National Tourist Ofice website also has a section on Huts: https://alp.holidaybooking.ch/?language=en

Anyway, snowHeads is much more fun if you do.
