Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Avoriaz off piste guiding?

 Poster: A snowHead
Poster: A snowHead
I am in Avoriaz for w/c 12 Jan with my partner who only skis on piste these days. Could anyone recommend guided groups to have half a day or a day away from the pistes? Also any recommendations or sources for itineraries, maybe with an hour or so skinning?

I've skied with Marco a few times and he's great. Lives in the valley between Avoriaz and Morzine. Speaks good English. Does a couple of piste/just off the piste runs to assess your ability then decides where is best etc etc

I've only ever managed a half day as he works you quite hard!!

Marco is priced per day/half day and can take upto 5.

Give him a ring as he may be able to get you to join a group he already has and doing it solo will be fab but pricey

Ski Club Great Britain do instructor led off-piste days in Avoriaz. Think it is £70 non member, £45 member per day. Look on their website

@WindOfChange, SCGB should not be taking groups off piste... if they are even still running groups on piste.

SCGB Organise "off piste skiing" with guides or instructors who are able to lead groups off piste . Scgb do not lead groups in France off piste nor on.

I used to be a member of SCGB and have enjoyed the instructor led guiding previously. However this year's booking is yet to go live and there seem to be doubts whether the SCGB can finalise a deal with a ski school (it was Evolution 2 previously) in time for this season, so it seems sensible to keep my subs inn my pocket and put it towards a non-subsidised session/group.
