Mail for help.Help!!

Log in to snowHeads to make it MUCH better! Registration's totally free, of course, and makes snowHeads easier to use and to understand, gives better searching, filtering etc. as well as access to 'members only' forums, discounts and deals that U don't even know exist as a 'guest' user. (btw. 50,000+ snowHeads already know all this, making snowHeads the biggest, most active community of snow-heads in the UK, so you'll be in good company)..... When you register, you get our free weekly(-ish) snow report by email. It's rather good and not made up by tourist offices (or people that love the tourist office and want to marry it either)... We don't share your email address with anyone and we never send out any of those cheesy 'message from our partners' emails either. Anyway, snowHeads really is MUCH better when you're logged in - not least because you get to post your own messages complaining about things that annoy you like perhaps this banner which, incidentally, disappears when you log in :-)

Advice needed: Broke student buying slalom skis for dryslope racing

 Poster: A snowHead
Poster: A snowHead
Hi, now I'm at uni, I've got back into dryslope racing. I would say that I race at a pretty high level, but I don't want to use my lovely snow skis on the plastic!!

So, I need to get myself an affordable pair of decent SL skis (as a student I really don't have much cash to splash...). I am 100% expecting to buy a second hand pair. Where would people recommend looking? I'm a member of skibay, and my mate's getting me added to racers skibay, but as far as I can tell, no retailers have a second-hand sales system set up? As far as I can tell, my best/ideal option would be to get in touch with a racer/coach with loads of old skis, and dry and work out a deal. All I really need is a bit of edge on a decent pair! I really need to try and stay around £50 - its only dryslope!!

Thanks Smile

Where are you at uni? Lothian Schools used to have an annual ski sale... Picked up a lovely pair of Blizzard SGs there in about 1994.

@jjebarron, you may already know about the Midland Ski Club? If not maybe worth checking their website / Facebook pages.

They used to have a second hand ski, equipment and clothing sale a few weeks before the main season started.
